DING went the strings of my heart!

Oh, the joy of SW and the Indianapolis airport! They had a DING fare IND to MCO last week for....drum roll please.... $37 each way plus taxes! 4 people, nonstop flights, perfect times, etc., for less than $400! I couldn't believe it! O happy day!!!

All this to say...keep trying, persistance really does pay off in this case!

The whole purpose of Ding, and one of the reasons why SWA is so successful when other airlines are on the verge of bankruptcy, is that they constantly monitor their flights. They want to fly them full. The offer a Ding so that they can fill up the planes. Some people don't like SWA (no reserved seating, etc.) but if price and non-stop flights are important to you, it is the best!

I have had DINGs for anywhere from $49 to $71 on the PVD-MCO route. Also watch the Rapid Rewards emails. Several times I have got a better fare using the email rate instead of the DING fare.

Lately the best DING from Providence has been $71. I can beat that on jetBlue out of BOS by $3.

I can fly out of either airport and love jetBlue but opt to fly Southwest because ther are normally cheaper. If Song/jetBlue are the same or better, that's who I will fly.

DH installed DING after I found out about it here. Southwest hasn't released the dates we want yet, but when they do, should I be checking multiple times per day?

We are really hoping for a good rate during our March 2006 spring break week, but if not, we will drive the 17 hours each way :worried:

This will be our first time trying DING, so hopefully it will help us get a good rate.

We have been flying Northwest, but their rates are really high now! Just checking different dates, they don't seem to be offering low rates anymore like they did over the past year. Seems like airfare is going to be going up.

New Ding! fares usually appear twice a day - sometimes more, sometimes less. If you have the speakers turned on on your computer, you will hear the "ding" when a new offer is available. Or, the icon in your toolbar will have a little envelope as part of it, indicating a new deal.

THANK YOU!!!!!

I checked this morning and there was 'nothing' listed on my DING messages, but after your response I looked at the icon in my toolbar and there wsa a little envelope! I just checked and there was a new deal! Now it isn't what I am looking for, but at least I know what to look for now. I never knew!

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain that to me! :sunny:

Have you ever seen a ding fare offered, and then offered again within a month or so at a lower rate?

Just curious....I wanted a lower ding than was being offered

I have ding installed and was getting the envelope on the icon until about a week ago. Now the icon says ready but not mesg. comes in. Has anyone had this happen and know how to fix this?
