Hi everyone - just hoping someone could ease my mind. I've been watching the DING flights for a while now, and even though they don't have tickets available for May yet, i am getting nervous because i have yet to see any flights on sale between philadelphia & orlando. has anyone ever had luck with this? if not, what's the best way to get between the two cities? :confused3 last time i flew airtran for around $200, but it seems if i luck out with DING i could pay half that, which would really help. thank you!

I too have had no luck with DING between PHL and MCO.

I would just keep an eye out on Southwest and Airtran. Airtran does a lot of 2 day sales and I have seen flights on there many times for $49 or $59 each way. For our December trip, I have a $69 going to MCO on Southwest and a $59 coming back on Airtran. If I would have held out a few more weeks, I could have gotten a $49 on Airtran going down that left only 20 minutes after the Southwest flight. So, just keep your eyes peeled for sales. I don't think Southwest is necessarily the cheapest/best out of PHL.

Yes, you can certainly do better than a $200 fare. My experience with SWA in PHL is that USAirways invariably matches their fares if they're having a "sale". So it's either feast or famine. We are traveling to WDW, leaving on 11/12 on SWA for a tad over $100/pp round trip. We did almost as well last February. Last June, because we waited too long, we paid $185.00/pp :headache: I have no experience with Air Tran, although I've heard pretty good reports about them. Hang in there. A good fare is bound to crop up between one of these airlines.

I just recently(last month) got a 44$ ding out of MCO to PHL. I couldn't get my flight down as it was sold out(Thanksgiving weekend) but I did get the return flight. I've had luck with DING but the more recent DINGS seemed to be high. Usually around 74$ each way which is not much cheaper than the internet fares.

thanks for the advice everyone - I'll be sure to keep checking SWA fares but also keep an eye on Air Tran & US Airways. I'm sure one of these airlines will have a decent fare pop up in the next few months.

Have you checked USA3000? I got roundtrip air, over Easter weekend, for $343.80 for both of us.

In early September I booked Philly-Orlando for $38 each way this December! We ended up paying less than $200 for TWO roundtrip tickets.

Yay Ding! :)

PHL to MCO was on the Ding list just last night. I just got back last week and used one, with tax it was $57 on way. Keep watching. I remember when I bought mine MCO appeared twice with in 3 days so keep a look out. Good luck.

wow really? can't believe i missed it - of course i didn't turn my computer on last night :badpc: do you recall how long those rates were good for? i believe the last time i checked DING they still only had fares until march. thanks!

The dings usually don't extend that far out. I believe the latest one were for Feb. Hang in there. I am sure between the ding fars from SW and other sales from Airtran and SW you will find decent airfare.

Sorry if this is a silly question but can someone explain to me what a DING is?

My husband and I are flying from PHL to Orlando in January and we dont have our tickets yet. The last two years we've flown USAIR for 186.50 round trip each. I was hoping to pay around the same price.

Thanks in advance!

Ding is a download fromt the Southwest website. It will pop up with sales, usually every day. You just have to keep an eye on it for your destinations. Usually the fares are slightly lower than the regular ones offered on their site. The fares also are usually good for a few hours, so you have to keep watch.

You should definitely be able to get less than $186.50 pp from PHL to MCO. Keep an eye on Airtran and Southwest. Without DING, I got Southwest down for $49 and Airtran home for $59 by watching for fare sales. Our trip is in December so January sales should be out soon, if not already. You just have to check everyday. Good luck!

I got my ding a month ago and I've seen it couple times for my visit in dec. I purchased my tickets for $42 bucks each way using ding from phil to mco .

thanks all - i signed up for Air Tran e-mail alerts and am keeping an eye on DING. i can't download DING onto my work computer so maybe that's part of my problem, i don't always see the sales in time. i still have half a year to find something though!

I would keep your eye on expedia also. This week they had flights to Orlando from Phila for $120. We were able to get a rate reduction and credit voucher for our December trip.
