DING fares really that cheap?

I am looking for travel in Dec. and wondering if I should sign up for DING fares. Are they really that cheap? Cheaper than $88 one way? Do they offer any in Dec?

Sometimes DING! is cheaper, sometimes not. For example, I bought my tickets from Dulles to Disney a few weeks ago for $49 each way. This was bought during a regular websale and I never got a DING for that cheap on those days, so in that case, DING was not cheaper.

Alternatively, in 2007 I got a DING three weeks prior to my kids' Easter break and I got $49 each way. Couldn't get near that price going through the site regularly.

The best ding I have gotten was $38 Raleigh to MCO in May '08.

They can be! I recently got $38 from BWI to Detroit for our upcoming trip. We travel once to twice a year and I can usually get at least one of the fares a DING!
Depends on your location but sometimes you can get lucky!
