I have finally been able to download ding on my computer. We are planning a trip for the end of September from Kansas City to Orlando. How soon should I expect ding rates for September 25-Oct. 1 to come out. Are ding fares really limited (like days of the week etc) and is is usually possible to get 4 seats with ding fares? I need to know if I should hang on and wait to see what I can get or go ahead and book flights pretty soon. Thanks.

I would book your tickets as soon as possible when they open your dates.

Book one-ways that way if you need to cancel 1 way of your trip to get the cheaper Ding then your other won't be effected.

Those Ding most likely won't be out until Sept. But start watching now for the patterns for your airport.

Hope this helps

Karla- I also leave from Kansas City. Here is my experience from last year. I was going on a cruise and flew on Sept. 23. Last year I waited and waited for Southwest to open up those Sept. dates. They ended up opening them on May 15th, and I booked on May 17th with a ding fare. From last year's experience, It was a mistake. I got too antsy to buy the tickets. The ding fare ended up being MUCH more expensive than if I would have just waited to book when they were having an airfare special.

Because of this, I canceled and rebooked. I ended up with a $535 dollar credit that had to be used in one year with Southwest.

Good luck booking. And I hope you have better luck than I did last year.

DING has only been out for a little over a year. In the past few months DINGs have changed, they now only come up a month or two before the flight and many of them seem to be limited to certain days of the week. I wouldn't plan on being able to get a DING fare for the first N/S flight on a Saturday morning.

Ding is a download offered by Southwest. It offers discounted airfares by notifying the ding users when a discounted airfare comes out. You have to go to Southwest.com and download the ding before you can get the notifications. Many people have gotten great deals, but I'm not sure I can wait for the ding specials for September before I book. I guess I will just have to see what airfares they offer when they finally release my travel dates for sale. That is the thing that bothers me most about Southwest...not being able to buy tickets way ahead of our trips.
