I'll be going to Orlando in Dec this year, with my children .The last time my family were there was Christmas 2001 ,and we really enjoyed it.My wife is sadly no longer with us, and so I have to pick up the pieces, and take the kids back to the best place on earth.
I met a lady,Julie,in the middle of last year, and we gradually got to know each other, then introduced the kids, and now we live in the same house.
My point is,we are considering getting married whilst out there, but have already booked the theme parks and accommodation, and don't wish to spend money we haven't got on trimmings. So I would like any info on simple weddings either in Orlando or Fort Myres, would quite like to borrow the wedding pavillion at Gf for a few photos.
Ps, you're all invited(make your own way).
Now that's a story with a happy ending !!

Can't help on the wedding front, but just wanted to say that I'm glad everything is working out for you after a difficult time. It's nice to hear a good news story for a change...

Did you know that there is a DIS forum devoted to weddings at WDW? Here it is.

Regards

Rob

What lovely news!!!

Will you let me wish you both all the best for the future.

Sorry I can't help with your wedding question but I'm sure there will be someone on the boards who can.

Do let us know how you get on.

Congrats on the wedding...would love to see y'all get married.
But, we were just there in Dec. Can't make it again this year.

Have a great time, there are plenty of places on the web with info.

Good luck.
Lisa

I can't help with any wedding details either, but just wanted to say how happy I was to read your news.

The invitation's very tempting........... ;)

..... a very tempting invitation!!! When exactly in December :smooth: ?

I would post on the weddings forum as Rob suggested - I seem to remember someone posting earlier who was marrying in the registry office in Orlando ( or whatever their equivalent is)...... I'll see what I can find.

Also passing on my good wishes to yourself and future wife - nice to read some good news.

Have a long and happy life together.

Congratulations - this is fantastic news!

Hope you are both very happy. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Thanks all, very much.I wasn't intending to overstretch for this wedding,as it has taken us a lot of effort to get the holiday together.I will see if I can find some useful tips from the wed site.We found a few places down in Frt Myres which look good, like lover's key,it's somewhere I've never been before,so We were hoping it may be a wonderful place to go back to in the following years.
We're landing on the 16th Dec,stay in Orlando for 11 nts Virgin Villa, then 7nts in FRT Myres Virgin villa.

Congratulations to you both!

We got married in 2000 at an Intimate Wedding at The Polynesian resort. Did you want a disney wedding? Here is a link for Disney http://disney.go.com/vacations/disneyweddings/index1.html Disney have there own co-ordinaters and you don't need to have a package to go with it.

You can also get married at The Swan and Dolphin. http://www.swandolphin.com/weddings/weddings.html You don't need to stay here. Here is a link to weddings at Cypress Grove http://www.cypressgrovepark.com/cypressgroveweddings.htm

Here is another link to an unofficial disney wedding site http://www.yourfairytale.com/diswedlinks.html lot's of informative info about photographers, marraige license's etc.

Here is a link to our photographer http://www.rickferro.com/home.html You can get some idea of location's from here too.

HTH

Any question's please ask.

Kaylee :D

Mr Leech thats excellent news!:bounce:

I hope you'll both be very happy, its so nice to have someone to share the good and bad times with isn't it?

Mark & I considered getting married out there in May too, it somehow seemed appropriate as we'd met on the Dis boards! It got too complicated to organise though so we're having a quiet wedding here then are honeymooning in Florida instead.:) :)

Good luck with everything:)

UKAngel...you met your DH on these boards? How about that! :) Disney really does work the magic :)

Thanks, those links are very interesting Kaylee. This Wedding thing was an after thought,we'd already run up a few rough itineries, for Orlando,I don't know how we'd fit it in .We just thought, rather than have any complications with a home wedding, it would be just what we wanted. Now if we won the lottery,I wouldn't hesitate at the Dis Wedding, but,I think we'll keep our feet on the ground and say we'll use the money we have for more important things. We intend to Marry whilst on holiday, but,I think it'll be thought of as somewhere special to formalise our vows, that makes it appeal to us,so trimmings will be at a minimum, a good photographer would be useful though.
We've planned the holiday as a complete surprise for the kids,I don't know if we'll be able to keep it that way.

Well I'm a sucker for a happy endin , and this is one of the nicest I've known.

I'm so really happy for you.

Hi we got married in Cypress Gardens in june 2001 and it was magical, it wasnt too expensive , I think it came to about £450.00 for the minister, flowers (which were lovely) and photographs, we did pay extra for a video and a limousine but even without those extras it would have been the best day of our lives.

The company who organised it all was Crownline Weddings and I would definately recommend them as they were extremely professional but really nice, the photographer really puts you at ease!

Their website is wedoweds@aol.com and their phone no is 407 354 0985, the day was really relaxing as after we went for a meal at the crossroads restaurant and then went on the carousel which raised a few eyebrows I can tell you!!

I hope this answers a few questions but if you have any more please dont hesitate to ask , it gives me another excuse to waffle about it!

We got married in Orlando 10 years ago and renewed our vows last year both times at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando.

We had to get a licence from the local council for the marriage. This was very easy - took about an hour (there is no medical or blood test in Florida). It is worth finding out exactly the rules about this as there were specific questions on the form for people married before. We booked an area of Lake Eola - first time the rose garden but this is now a war memorial. Last year we used the Pagoda (or Ting as they call it!) which is a Chinese style wooden building in the park and offered some shelter from sun/rain etc. Again very easy.

Total planning time (both times) was 1/2 day for doing paperwork, checking venue etc.

All this was greatly helped by lady who married us - Doris Peterson. She was very nice and helped us choose the venue and photographer.

Can't remember the cost of all of it but is wasn't expensive. The photographer and video were by far the dearest part of it.

You can contact Doris via

Orlando Weddings site

If you speak to her please send her best wishes from Simon, Debbie and the kids.

Good luck and many congratulations. For us it turned two great holidays into something extra special.

:D What a lovely thread:D :D

Absolutely delighted for you and your new family - you're all sure to have a fantastic time. Good luck in keeping it a secret though;) :p :p :p

You and the children must have had some very difficult times.

It is lovely to hear things are going really well for you all.

Can't add any advice for the wedding,I just wanted to say 'Good Luck':Pinkbounc :bounce:

We are more aware of what we want, having listned to your ideas and contacting some wedding officiates in Florida.Due to our already packed itinery in Orlando, limited time there, and, the tranquil expectations,we have for the Fort Myers part of the hol,we will be having the ceremoney down there, probably at Lover's Key.We have been in contact with a Lady called Pat Walsh, who is an Officiate, she's the only one who has replied up to now.
Thanks for your well wishes, I feel really good passing on my wonderful news,I just want to keep talking about it.........
