Dine with Shamu or Luau?

We will be at Sea World for one day on June 10th and want to either dine with Shamu or go to the Luau. I'm leaning toward Dine with Shamu for a late afternoon seating around 3pm. Is this show worth the money? Which show is better in your opinion? My other concern is that I don't want to schedule this and then realize that I will have to miss any of the shows. Do you think I will be able to have this special lunch and still see everything Sea World has to offer in one day? Thanks so much for your help.:)

Even without scheduling a long dinner show it is hard to do and see everything at SW in a day. I am not a Luau person so of the 2 I would choose Dine with Shamu. You get up close to the pool. Trainer interaction with the whale., and food that is OK. For the money I would opt for the BBQ and just go to a Shamu show, but that is just my opinion.
To see the most shows get there at opening and plan your shows around your 3PM Dine with Shamu. I think you can probably schedule most of that way. Park stays open later in June so be sure to see the night shows.

We've never done the Luau, but Dine with Shamu is great! You sit next to the pool and Shamu is just a few feet away. The trainer comes by your table, talks to your family, and poses for pictures. The food is good. It's a buffet, so all you can eat. Probably a notch above regular theme park food. But the food is not the attraction for me--it's being so close to that amazing whale!

I have done both and like both of them, but if you are there for only one day I would do Dine with Shamu, no doubt!!!! Dine has more to do with SW then the Luau show.

Thanks for your help. I am at 60 days from my trip now, and plan to book Dine with Shamu tomorrow morning. I appreciate you guys sharing your experiences with me. ;) I am fairly new to the boards, but as our trip draws near, I find it harder to focus on work instead of trip planning! :surfweb:

That's a completely normal feeling. I think most people on this board enjoys the planning a little bit too much. But it's good to be prepared. I learned so much here that have made my trips so much better!

Hmm. Does dine with shamu sell out? We're going first week of June but haven't picked the actual day yet. If I don't pick the day until some point in May, will we even get to go? Or should I just pick a day already? I didn't realize you could reserve at a 60 day mark.

Sea World has an offer, that if you buy a one day admission, you get to come the 2nd day free. I do agree with some other posts...it is extremly hard to do ALL the shows and rides in one day...probably close to impossible, but if you plan ahead and find out what you want to do each day, and make an itinerary, you would get more for your money if you took advantage of the 2nd free day and split your time up!! And I have been to the Luau and it was awesome, however, I would probably choose the Dine with Shamu, just because you can't do that just anywhere...that is almost a once a lifetime thing...Luau's can been seen a lot of places!! have fun!!
