I know someone on here must know - I think I'd like to book 'Dine with an Imagineer' for my DD. What exactly happens at this meal? Is it something more than just sitting and eating a meal with an Imagineer and having casual small talk with him/her? Is it a scripted talk? Or can DD ask questions? I guess I just want to know what it is all about. Thanks so much for your replies! :goodvibes

I always wanted to do this untill I took my nephew and we got the last boat back from magic kingdom he started asking me all these questions and I didnt' know the answers. A very nice gentleman walked up to him and introduced himself as an imagineer took out his id and everything (maybe he thought we would think he was weird for walking up to us don't know) Anyhow we spent the entire boat ride wich was delayed for taking off talking to an imagineer he answered questions and filled us with info I never knew about the parks and we didn't have to share him with a table of othet guests lol. That was serious pixie dust.

I don't know from experience but I have done a lot of research on the Dine with an Imagineer. We plan to do it on a future trip, just couldn't budget it this time around. Basically, from my understanding is that the Imagineer can be from any part of the WDW experience, from rides to landscaping to costumes and everything in between (it's all luck of the draw). The Imagineer talks about all the different aspects of their job, but it is not scripted and questions are welcomed (but if your group doesn't have any the Imagineers don't usually have a problem filling the time).

There is also a new lunch at Sanaa where you talk with an animal specialist. I don't know if it is an AK specialist or someone who works at AKL/Kidani. From what I have read the experiences have been very good. Just thought I would throw that out there incase DD is an animal person.

How interesting - thank you!

My 12-year old daughter and I did the Dining With an Imagineer about a month ago. She LOVED it.

It lasted about 3.5 hours...we had David, who was one of the Imagineers who worked on the upgrade of Star Tours.

While we dined, he told us stories - and we asked questions.

The food was delicious; we also received personalized nametags, and a signed glass plate. They also took pictures of us at the table that were given to us at the end of the meal (no additional charge).

Some of the talk was a little technical, and I was worried that my daughter wouldn't understand it, but she hung on every word.

We are doing this on Oct. 3. If you would like, I can let you know afterward what it entailed. I'm super excited about it and won't mind sharing! :goodvibes

Oh please do let me know. It sounds really nice. I don't know why I'm so concerned about it. :confused3 It's Disney! It should be great! :goodvibes

Remember you can't use DDP for this! The website gives the impression that they'll take DDP.

Don't know how old the OP's daughter is. Disney recommends for age 14 and up. Yes, they'll take questions. This is a great event for teens who are interested in a career as an Imagineer or are just interested in WDW operations.

The imagineer at the lunch I did was Melissa, a mechanical engineer who worked on ride design for Soarin' and Toy Story Mania. Was cool for the teens in the audience to meet a female engineer who worked on attraction design. The lunch is limited to something like 10-12 guests so it isn't a crowd asking questions.
