It looks like there are several options for the dining plan at DL. I know it is not like the plan at WDW. I'm looking at the plan that says 6 disney dining choices per person which is $104. Can someone tell me if i can do character meals on this plan and if i'm correct i would get 4 meal credits and 2 snack credits per person. Or is it even worth getting the vouchers over paying OOP?
Thanks,
Donald's 2-Day Dine in the Magic Meal Plan
6 Disney Dining choices per person.
Adult/Junior Meal Plans include
Character Dining 2
$15 Dining Certificate 2
Snack Voucher 2
So per person you would get 2 character meals (not the premium - Goofy's Kitchen or Ariel's and not for WOC packages). You could use those either for a character meal, or at any Disney restaurant for the face value (will be printed on the voucher), 2 $15 vouchers, and 2 snack voucher (I think these are around $6 each - I haven't used them in a couple of years).
Jade ~ if everyone but you says it's a bad idea who do you think is in the wrong?? You're welcome to use it if you choose to but for most of "us" we've looked at it and know it isn't worth it
That's a little harsh. I think if the plan works for someone, good show. If not, then don't use it. It works for us sometimes and sometimes it's not worth it, just depends on what I'm looking for.
Explain how it works and what i would have to purchase to have character meals included. Also, if i'm not on the dining plan will they charge for my 1 year old son at a character buffet? I know on the dining plan they don't.
You would just use the vouchers wherever you eat at a Disney restaurant (they have a list of all that are available - not all DTD restaurants, but then again the Disney GC don't work at all either). If you want to use the character meal voucher for a non-character meal, then it's the face value of the voucher.
We have used this in the past and it worked out fine as a pre-budgeted/pre-paid amount for food. Our only issue is that the portions were so huge, we wasted a lot of food. We were not able to use all the vouchers in one trip (I was able to use them on a subsequent trip though, so that was

)
It is not at all like the WDW plan, but it still can be useful. The drawback is that you have to spend the entire amount or no change. You sometimes end up having to pay a few cents to make up the difference (what can you get that costs exactly $15???).
Would I use them again? Yes, if I wanted to pre-pay for my food. Would I use it for every trip? Probably not.
