Ugly sister would not have to behave like a princess. At least you could enjoy the evening You have to behave appropriately to fit into the role of the character for max effect of the costume.

No pressure and I assure no pictures will be published. The local press have been tipped off but cannot see them turning up.
You come as you see fit I have several changes planned by my good lady, also one of those silly dances which I have agreed to as long as she gets you and mrs Pegasus to join in with the prince charming section as you are a natural.

Though having said that the video to Prince Charming had some ugly sisters in that too. Maybe I need to watch it to gain some inspiration

I think you should dress up as an Ugly Sister and then play the part, as others have said already! You could arrive a little late, and complain about not being invited (because, as you said, they aren't technically Princesses...), you could really play up!

But, as others have also said, you could don a big gold ballgown and go as Belle...

I like the idea of playing the role - not sure my new adopted sister will see things the same way though
