Dilemma- WLV or POP

Well, thanx to these boards I decided to research renting points from a DVCer. I am currently booked at POP CEntury for a 4 day 3 night stay with just me and my 8 year old son. We've been preparing to stay at POP and feel attached to the place already. However, I'm pretty darn miffed about not being able to get a discount code (especially not receiving the post card and my friend did!). I hate that I'm spending more to stay at POP then those staying at the moderates.

So, I now have the opportunity to stay at the WLV instead of POP. The cost will be about 100 more to stay at WLV. While that amount of money isn't that much of a difference...100 is a 100! Also, will my 8 year old perhaps like POP better than WLV? I know i'll like WL better, but I wonder about him.

Advice please!!

By the way the $100 more is for the total 3 night stay. Not $100 more per night.

Think about it this way...$100 ISN'T $100 at Disney...it's more like $25, so go for VWL. I have stayed at both POP and the WL-no comparison!!!! No pool slide at Pop or boat to MK. Whsipering Canyon was such an unexpected TREAT! I once paid $99 at ASSp-not worth it. I can't believe you are even debating this. Go for it!

OMG! Its a no brainer ~ (IMHO) VWL. The resort is beautiful. The pool is awesome and has hot tubs. The boat to MK is great. You can go over to FW for the campfire and watch a free movie, toast smores and dance with Chip & Dale.

Do you think 130/night is a great price for the WLV?

OK, so I'm off to show him pictures on Allearsnet....I hope I can convince him. Remember, what seems logical to us mere mortals isn't the same for an 8 year old. POP has lots of larger than life icons....primary colors.....and a video game system area at check in. Also...he's really looking forward to the food court. Go figure!

Our DS was 10 when we first stayed at WL and he loved it. Things he might enjoy are the geyser, they do have a game room, the pool, a WL tour with Ranger Stan, a visit to the otter pond, feeding fish off the boat dock, afternoon WL activities for kids and the totem poles. You'll enjoy a queen bed instead of double bed, a kitchenette in your room and a laundry facility down the hall. The buses will be less crowded, too. Go to VWL, you'll enjoy it.

JFI, many people have rented points without any problems. However there is always the exception.

You might want to read the post on the DVC board where someone did not have a good experience, so you know what to ask for and how to avoid problems.

There is an element of trust involved and if things go wrong you are on your own. So cover all your bases and protect you investment.

Show him the pool slide!!!! My son did not care for the hippy dippy pool! It is flower shaped and I guess it looked "girly" to him. The WL has the geyser, a great arcade, adn FW is right down the rode. Pony rides are $3

I'm going to rent points from a DVCer. My dates will be 39 points and I'm paying her $10.00 per point. Now it's time to iron out the details.
