So, my impulsive nature got the better of me and I jumped straight in and booked my first solo trip to Disney for this Dec. Now, I did this knowing that if I waited a bit there would probably be the free DDP offer for holidays in January. I wasn't 100% sure they'd offer this again though, and I didn't want to wait :hyper:

So, now the offer has been advertised I have the following dilemma, do I stick with what I've booked (only paid small deposit so far):

10 nights, Dec 2014, Coronado Springs, standard room, DDP (regular)

or do I call Disney and see if I can switch my deposit to the following for just $250 more:

10 nights, Jan 2015, Old Key West, standard room, DDP (regular)?

I do love Christmas at Disney, but I also like the deluxe level hotels. I've stayed at Saratoga Springs, which I loved, but this was in a 1 bed villa and I can't afford more than an standard room at OKW. Is OKW itself worth it or is a standard room there much the same as a standard room at CS, where I've never stayed?

Any advice welcome. Thanks :confused3

I have heard nothing but good things about OKW. I think it's just about finances and how you vacation. If your in the park from rope drop to closing time and your room is just a bed for ten days then why spend the extra $250. If your like me, love the parks just at a slower pace, lots of time by the pool (maybe not so much in Dec), resort hopping, etc, you may want to change.
P.S I've canceled several times before it has always been a full refund (couple months notice for me)

Thanks, it's good to know that you've been able to change things in the past with no hassle.

However, having thought about it long and hard, I think that I'm going to stick with December. I just love Christmas and all the decorations, the music, the Osborne Family lights, the 'snow'... :santa:

I'm so excited about it already.

Christmas at Disney can't be beat. Have you thought about staying off site and renting a car? Or even trying Bonnet Creek that is on site? You can get really good hotel rooms for cheaper than on site. Just a suggestion.

Thank you for the suggestion. We've stayed off site before and loved it, but I'm travelling solo this time and want the convenience of a Disney hotel with free transport and everything. Besides, I enjoy staying on site so much.

I think it is about theming more than anything. I love OKW but haven't done the studio there. I have done studios at other DVC resorts. Look at pictures. It isn't going to be like the 1 BR but I think I would enjoy it more than Coronado. Love the boat to downtown disney and the theming of OKW. Let us know what you decide. I like being on property. ;)

After much thought (and let's face it, thinking about Disney is always fun) I've decided that I like the whole Christmas vibe too much to switch to Jan. So, I'm going to stick with CSR and 10 nights in Dec.

Thank you for all your suggestions :goodvibes

Yeah...Disney! the countdown begins :yay:
