Hey Everyone!

Here is my dilema:

Originally have booked the following:

Oct. 29-30 2 nights at rack rate for WL Woods View $566.42
Oct 31 - Nov 7 (7/5 Package) WL Woods View: $2,341.54
TOTAL: $2907.96

I originally was doing the math and was doing it with standard view...pricing being cheaper.

Just realized the extra cost of Woods View...now am contemplating the cost for the 2 additional nights. Am considering staying at a Value Resort for those 2 nights and switching to WL on the 31st. Can save about $300.00. My question is...Is it worth it to resort switch? How much hassle would it actually be? I have 2 kids (9 and 6)? How early can I check out of one and check into the other?

AHHH...thought I was all set...then realized that my package wasn't for the Standard View.

Any advice would be appreciated!:sunny:

If the cost is an issue and you do save a bunch then I would switch to another resort. I have heard that a lot of people do that and don't really have problems with it.

I am doing the resort hopping thing this year myself for the first time, only because I want to knock out the values on my list of hotels quickly. (I have this weird quirk and I am sure not alone where I want to stay at every Disney hotel on property).

I have read that just unpack what you need to for those couple of days.

Also I hear that the resorts can hold or transfer your luggage or something of that nature. I am sure someone can clarify this.

Not sure how early you can check into the second hotel, from what I understand it can be hit or miss on if you can get in early or not.

Hope that helps some!

And have a great trip!

I've never changed resorts, but I know lot have and will be able to give you first hand knowledge.
With that being said, here's my 2 cents! Spending those 2 nights at a value resort would be a big savings. As the previous poster said you could just unpack what you need for 2 days or even pack one small bag seperate from your other luggage. If you can't have your bags moved for you, you could just leave a little early the morning of check out, drive to WL, check-in and have them hold your bags for you. Go spend the day at a park and by the time you come back your room should be ready. Then you will be able to unpack and enjoy the rest of your stay!:D
We stayed at All-star movies and WL and liked them both! Ok, we LOVED WL.! Enjoy your trip!:sunny:sunny:

Changing resorts is not a big deal you let bell services or lugguge service know the night before that you are going to be doing it, they take the bags and send them to the new hotel and they are held there for you, they do not arrive there till after 3 however so take anything you really need with you.
As for the standard room was it just that they did not have it available all your days? because if that is the case I suggest that you keep what you have for now and keep calling and checking to see if your dates have become available to add to your reservation, they usually do if you are persistant.

Thank you everyone for your replies....for the moment think I will leave it as is. Have to debate is $$$ worth just staying put. Anyone else that has had experience with hotel changes I would love to hear more experiences!

Kim:)

I the view actually that important to you. I know my children would just be so happy being at WDW and we would not be spending that much time on the balcony or looking out the window, so I would chose a standard view for the whole time and not have to worry about resort hopping.

I know my DH would rather pay extra than have to switch resorts - LOL!

Actually...the Woods View is the only thing available at WL for the 7/5 package for my dates.

I just received information from my travel agent that my 1st 2 nights at the Lodge is for Standard View. LOL...uhhh....I will definetely have to at least switch rooms at the resort if I stay there the whole time LOLOL...never thought I would be stressing over a vacation....good stress... but still stress! LOL

Any more advice would be helpful.

We have switched resorts mid trip several times. As McCall stated, Bell Services will be glad to assist you.

Our switches have been seamless. I wouldn't hesitate to switch resorts.

Good Luck! :wave2:

IMHO, If you have to switch rooms anyway, I would go with a value resort for the first two nights. A year ago we spent 5 nights at BCV and then two nights at AKL. Switching was not a big deal. I packed up everything the night before we left BCV and just unpacked what we needed for the last two days at AKL. We checked out of BCV in the morning, went and did what we wanted for the day, then checked in AKL when we were ready. Bell services handled the luggage transfer so all we had to do was call for our luggage when we got into our room at AKL and they delivered it to our room. :sunny:

Thanks...I am feeling a bit better about this. One question though....if checking in the Lodge at night...are my odds less likely for any requests. Want the bunk beds for the kids!

If it were my family we would pick the cheaper resort for 2 nights then move to WL. We have moved before during our stay and its really not that bad. The resorts move your luggage for your. When you stay the 2 nights at PC the All Stars then take your luggage up front to the bellman and then hit the park of your choice or DTD. When you get to the WL later your luggage should be there.

Ok...another questions...SORRY!!! LOL

Since when I move to WL it will be the 7/5 package deal. So I have to go to WL anyway to check in to get my UPH right? Thanks for the replies!

Kim

I vote for going value and move to WL. You will have to pack up everything anyway and take it to bell services, why not save a little money. Changing resorts was no problem for us when we did it. What we did was check out of the CR early, hop over to the WL and check in. Of course our room was not ready at 10 in the a.m. but they gave us our room keys and # to call to get our room number. We avoided a long line at check-in time by doing it this way.

After we checked in at the WL, we hit the parks. We came back after 3 and yep, long line at check-in. So we just used the phone in the lobby and called to get our room #. They gave us the number, we went to the room and called bell services to bring up our bags.

So go for it! But check-out early at the value and check-in early at the WL.;)
