Wow everyone! These layouts are great, so inspiring. I've been wanting to give digi a try, right now I'm the ol' paper glue kind of scrapper. Of course, just as I was trying to decide which program to try, PSP or Elements, work just got heated up, so I decided to not download the free trial until I shovel some room on my desk. How does work always know when you find something else way more fun you want to do? Nothing to do for weeks and then, hmmm, I think I'll try digi scrapping on Monday and then BAM! the work shows up in my inbox.

Any ideas to help me choose between the two programs?

You can run 30 day trials on both of them, so that will help you choose. If you are a fan of tutorials, you will find many more for PSE then PSP, as more digi scrappers use PS/PSE then PSP. I use PSP and am perfectly happy with it, it's quite powerful and some tricks are easier with PSP then PSE/PS. I extracted some Wishes fireworks that just made all the PSE/PS users jaw drop and with PSP it took about 3 seconds to do. I think I posted it before, but it's here again for you to see.

Also if you get into brushes and actions, they are much better with PSE/PS.

Thank Fran! Lot's of good info in there. Plus, how cool is that fireworks picture?! Go you! :thumbsup2 As soon as I dig out from under the load here, I think I'm going to download them both and give them a whirl. I have Photo Impact and that program and I have never gotten to where we like each other at all. Plus, the book that came with it, HA! That thing is next to useless. So I want to get a clean start with something that maybe, hopefully, I'll stand a chance of getting the hang of. Thanks again!

I've been downloading kits and elements like crazy, but haven't used any of them yet. With that goal in mind, I decided to start a book of my family. The first page I did is of my mom's parents because it is one of my favorite photos.

The kit I used is Vintage Florals by Shabby Princess

I got another one of my family done tonight. This is my Mom when she was a baby. I used purple because that is my mom's favorite color. The kit I used is Lilac Garden from PeppermintCreative.com.

I blurred out her birthday for privacy reasons.

What beautiful pages!!!! I love the old photos. I am sure these are pages you will treasure.... Great job with your first layouts. I can't wait to see more!!!!

I did another family layout tonight. This one is of my Dad and his brothers. I'm not sure when this photo was taken, I would say probably mid-40s. I have to ask my mom tomorrow. This is one of her favorite photos. The writing on the photo is my Grandmother's handwriting. I liked the border of the original picture with the writing that I didn't change any of it.

Right now I can't remember where I downloaded the paper from. Everything else is my creation.

Yzerbear - Great start on your layouts.. I see your getting caught up in the addiction very quickly :cool1:

Suzann - I love your layouts, the long beach one is a very cool layout. Is it a template or did you free hand it?

Hi everyone else.. Happy 4th.. First week on the job is going okay, with every new job it takes time to know if it is the right fit but so far so good.

Hope to be back soon with some new layouts.

Thanks Renysmom,
The Long Beach layout is by hand, but it was a scraplifted idea :goodvibes

Hi everyone! Great pages!! You all have been busy, LOL

Suzann, Glad to see new lo's from you -- i love your pages.. but you already know that!! LOL

Shay -

Welcome to our crazy little addiction :rotfl: . Everyone here is awesome and so helpful. You will learn alot, although after seeing your first 2 layouts it appears you are on your way. Great job.

Thanks for the welcome! This is so much fun! I really think I like digital better than paper scrapbooking. Learning the program was a little hairy at first, but now I think I have it. I can't wait to learn more techniques as soon as I feel a little more comfortable.

I got another digital layout for my family book done. This one is from my parent's wedding. The paper is from a set called "Grandmother's Flowers," but I can't think of who it is by though right now. I recolored it purple though. The rings are from Microsoft clipart and recolored. The white swirls on the side is a set of brushes I've had on my computer for a while and can't remember where they came from.

Comments and feedback are greatly appreciated. :)

Here is another one. This one is of my sister and I in our sailor suits. My Grandpa was in the Navy during WW2 and there are quite a few pictures of my dad in a little sailor suit. As a result of this, all of us kids had our pictures taken in a sailor suit. And my mom has said that she will continue the tradition with grandchildren.

The kit used was "Spangled Glory" by Shandy Vogt. The two large stars are again from a brush that I've had for a while, so I don't know where it came from. And the font for our names is one of my favorites, its called Eight Fifteen.

I just LOVE this layout. I also love the sailor suit idea. Cleverness runs in the family i see. :goodvibes
