Caitsmama -

Thanks for the comments. I really appreciate them. the castle is one of my favorites too :goodvibes

BTW to anyone.. if you see a layout where I created the kit. If you would like it let me know and I will be happy to share. Most are in 8 x 8 but now I am doing pages 12 x 12 and then downsizing to print 8 x 8.

Caitsmama - I love your pages. They are so inspiring to see your designs. Even if they are not 'Disney' post them here too. PLEASE!!!!

Thank you!! I see you changed the thread title.. lol. :goodvibes I just didn't want to intrude with non disney lo's! LOL ;) But, i think it's good to have just a thread for digi scrappers! Thanks so much for starting this!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Your welcome! I did change the thread title since as much as I LOVE seeing Disney digital pages, I also want to see other pages too. I love looking at the main thread for scrapbooking pages but since I am no longer scrapping traditionally, I like seeing others digital pages for ideas....

I bought Paint Shop Pro X quite awhile ago...finally figured out how to layer pictures this week! Here is my first layout...please feel free to critique! :thumbsup2 I have several more that I want to do so I am hoping I get better as I go. =)

LOL, Jessica, I was so busy looking at your photos that I didn't even see my paper back there! Which is a good thing, I think, since your photos should sort of be the main focus of the page, IMO. :)

LOL! Thanks for sharing your designs! After going back and looking at some other posts, I saw that others indicated where the paper was from, so I apologize that I didn't give you proper credit. Your stuff is awesome! I just found your site the other day (thanks to these boards!) and trying to catch up on all the stuff I missed!

Thanks again,
Jessica

Jessica, i think that is a GREAT first page!!!

I think you did a great job. For more color or contrast you might want to add small mats or frames around the pics or at least a drop shadow for some depth on the pics and elements. Looks like a great first day at Epcot!

Let me know if you need any PSPX help, I use it too, although I'm by no means an expert! :)

No problem about the credit; I'm not that picky. :) I really did get hooked looking at your pics. I think I miss Test Track! (I didn't get to ride it on my last visit to WDW.)

I would definitely like to learn how to do these things...the mats and frames are just added elements right? But what is a drop shadow?

Thanks!
Jessica

I love that ride =) I love Disney in general. My financee thinks I'm crazy...he just doesn't get it. (Although he did agree to spend half our honeymoon there :thumbsup2 )

Thanks again,

Jessica -

Very nice page. I also use PSP X so ask away if you have questions.

Drop Shadow is adding a shadow (narrow is better) on the edges of your pictures, mats or elements. You can try it out by going to effects dropdown menu, then 3d effects.

Kelly answered about drop shadows. I usually make my LOs 12x12 at 300 dpi and use about 8 on my shadow, so small is good.

For frames around pics, there are tons of premade ones you can find on different sites, you can also crop down background papers to mat your pics, or DL mats all over too. Or, you can add borders to your pics and then put an effect or texture on the border, all which give you a different look. You can add borders under Image > Add borders and use something like 10-40 depending on the look you want. Then you can play with effects and colors and textures too. Do that to the pic before you copy it onto your LO.

Thanks for the help. I found the effects, although I haven't used any yet. I have a few other questions if anyone can answer them.

This might sound silly, but I see in some layouts where the text is wavy or in shapes, etc....I can't figure out how to get my text to do that. I click the text tool and a box appears but my writing is only ever straight...lol.

Also, I have only messed around with layouts of 8x8 but wonder if I should do them 12x12. I want to print them out some day so I am wondering what would be better. I actually re-did my Epcot page because on the first layout I thought I tried to cram too many pictures so our faces looked really small. Here is the new page:

The paper is Seebee's Freebies Dream Trip Hidden Mouse Swirl Paper and the elements from Honey Bear by Glenda Ketcham.

Thanks for all your help!

Here is a tutorial about creating text on a path, which you can make in any shape or waves, etc.

I would do 12x12, because if you want to print at 8x8, it's easy to change, if you change your mind and want 12x12, it will look horrid. You will also have a bit more room to work with, which is always nice.

The LO looks nice, the empasis on the one photo is great. Just a note that you put a ribbon and brad on the wrong side of that tag. If it has 2 holes, you'd probably want something to "secure" the other side down too, it could be just a brad, or just brads on each side. Another thing, you may want to change the color of your tag, it's very close to the background color. You can change the color by going to Adjust > Hue/Saturation > Colorize and then play with the two sliders until you find something you like. To just get the red part you can click that area with the magic wand first and it will only change the area inside the marching ants.

Thanks so much for your help! I'm saving all these posts so I can practice later. I am going to re-do the Epcot page on 12 x 12. (My fiancee will really think I'm nuts now since I have done this page twice already, lol).

I have one more question...(well hopefully only one more) =) When I save my page, it always says it has to merge it because of limitations of the file type I am using. Once you merge it, you can't change it right? How do you save your work half way through or can't you?

Thanks again...
Jessica

Jessica - While working on the layout you can save it as a psp file, then when you know you are done and ready to print you merge the layers and save it as either a .jpg or .png file. Then when you really know you are done you can delete the psp file.

I have several folders set up.. one is layouts in progress, this is where I save the psp version, completed layouts, to print layouts and printed and archive layouts. This really helps me.

BTW, if you dont have an external drive I suggest you get one, these files are huge and you will use up space faster than you can imagine. Also, make sure you backup your layouts to CD/DVD as hard drives and external drives do crash.

SBB.com and Rakscraps.com have some great psp tutorials as well.

Funny you mention harddrive space....last week before I started downloading digital supplies and playing with layouts I ran about out of space...I was down to 20 mb...so I bought a 250 gig external....I could see myself lining these things up tho! lol

Thanks for the tips!

Jessica

Wonderful getting an external drive. I'm so bad at backup... I need to desperately put stuff on DVDs.

I never merge my original pages. I always leave them saved as a .pspimage, that way if I find something wrong with it or need to change something, I still can. And I have found errors on old pages, I had done a memorial to my cat that died and I put wrong years on it and other silly mistakes, like spelling errors too.

To save a copy for the web, resize it to 600x600 (Image > Resize) and then File > Export > JPEG and then you save it as a .jpg that way. Then I Undo the resize and I have both files. I upload the jpg to my server or any galleries that I post at, depending on what products I've used. I have deleted a few old jpg's but they are so small it's really not worth the trouble.
