Which is better for a disney trip? I have a expesive digital camera with zoom and stuff and I also have a nice film camera with zoom. I love using both. I am very anal retentive about having lots of pictures. So what do you guys think?

I think digital will allow you to have many more pictures without having to pay for and carry extra film. You will probably need extra batteries though. With the digital you can delete pictures that just don't come out and only print the ones you need, or just leave them in your computer. Walgreens(and others I'm sure) will let you download and order your prints for about 19cents each. I needed about 60 prints for my preschool class just before Christmas, it cost about $12.00 including tax and it was ready in about 2 hours.

Hands down, digital. I have a good digital & a good 35 mm, but still prefer my digital as I can delete the pics I don't want without wasting the $ to have them developed.

NOTE TO THE WISE ------ Take more than 1 memory card! Thankfully we did this - we had 3 memory cards going which proved to be the way to go. On our way home I was viewing some pics while waiting on our layover and my camera froze up. That particular memory card no longer has access to any pics - it just says "Error." Thank goodness we had the other 2 memory cards. And, if I hadn't received the tips to take more than 1 memory card on these boards, I would have lost all pics!

We take a digital camera into the parks. We use waterproof disposible cameras in the waterpark so no one has to guard the camera. Actually, this last trip we just paid for a water park picture.

Digital, without a doubt!!!

Here are my reasons....
1) No film to load, reload and worry about losing
2) At the end of the day you can upload what you have to a laptop (if you have one of course!) my DH did this and at the same time he would delete any pictures that weren't good
3) With digital you can take many pictures in succession to get the perfect shot, and not have to worry about how many you have left, and you can delte them right off the camera
4) You can CONFIRM that your pictures are there. You CAN'T confirm that your roll of film is going to be ok til you actually take it in to be developed.
5) Digital cameras usually smaller than film ones, depending on what style you have.

Digital for sure. We got a new camera for our last trip and were able to get about 600 pictures. Couldnt do that with regular film- too expensive. I was able to view each picture after taking it to see if we got a good shot and when we got home I was able to pick and choose the best ones to be printed. Cant do that with regular film. You have to pay for all the pictures you took and that can be expensive.

If you have 2 adults going, I would take both. We did this, and doubled our chances of getting a good shot when the kids were with the characters. When we got home, I downloaded approx 300 pics to the computer, deleted the memory card, and the computer promptly crashed and died. My film pics were all I had! Thankfully DH found an undelete program at work, which restored maybe 2/3 of my pics, but at least we have the ones from my camera to fill in the gaps. I also use my 35mm for the pool, because my digital is too expensive to risk.

BTW... a box of 5 rolls Kodak film is $8 at Wal-mart, and you can develop it for less than $4/roll for single pics there. Minimal expense IMO compared to the cost of the trip, and the value of the memories.

I used both. I used my 35mm SLR for indoor shots with the aux. flash and my extended zoom for close ups. I used the 35mm for parades, character dinners, princess tea, close ups of the castle which was decorated for the 50th anniversary, shots of the kids on Dumbo and teacups. I am so glad I had it! I also had my digital point and shoot which was great outdoors, but I really get better pictures inside with my 35mm. I also take tons of pictures, so I liked the convenience of having the small digital ready to go at any time, but was able to use my 35mm when I had planned to zoom in better. By the way, I developed 12 rolls of film and had 400 on my digital. We also used the photopass and had over 300 to choose from there! It seems excessive, but my kids love to looks at the scrapbooks and it really captures the moments.

We used to take both, but the last trip went with digital only and it was soo much easier. Especially since we also bring the video camera that can also take still digital photos.
