Digital or Disposable Camera?

I have a questions for all of you that travel with your digi-cam. I have a Canon PowerShot G6 (not really bulky but can't throw in pocket) and love to take pics with it. Does it seem like a burden to carry your camera throughout WDW? Would it be better to get a small disposable camera? Sometimes it makes me wonder if I should just run out and buy a small point and shoot digital that I can throw in my pocket. Thanks all.

My Sony V1 fits in my fanny pack. So does our digital camcorder. I don't think it's a burden, especially if you like to take pictures. Granted, at the end of a long day I'm ready to get rid of it. But if you take pictures often I'm sure you'll be happier with a camera you are famliar with. We also bring our cables and my laptop so we can check out the pictures in the morning while we're getting ready.

Maybe you can bring both just in case :)

No burden at all with digital camera. DD loved to look at the pictures with us each day on our laptop. Had a small bag with a strap that I put over my shoulder - could also fit in small area of backpack.

I have a G3, and carried it all day every day last week without a problem. But one important thing-upgrade the stock strap that comes with your G6. Go out and spend 10 to 15 bucks on a nice thick neoprene strap. It is soooooo much more comfortable. Make sure it's long enough to go over your head and UNDER one arm. That gives you a lot of different carrying positions, all with easy access. And don't forget the plastic bag to cover it up with during rain or wet rides!

Have fun.

Very awesome! Thanks for the great tip.

I took the digital and strapped it to my fanny pack - no burden. Both DS had disposable cameras - very handy when "someone" forgets to charge the battery :guilty:

You won't be happy with the photos from a disposable camera compared to what you're used to. Take your digital!

I tried usung the disposable on an outing already and something wasn't right with it. I only got half my pictures and they weren't very nice. It was a Kodak disposable. At least if it your digital camera and you check the pictures after you take them you know. With this disposable you dont know till they are developed and you are home.

A digital will win every time, but if someone :guilty:  forgets to charge the camera its nice to have a disposable as a back-up. At AK this happened to us - DS(5) had been  the day before so I'd forgotten all about the camer. We came out end of the day and there was Donald with no queue - luckily one DS had a disposable camera so the CM took a couple of shots. Got them developed as a CDROM, uploaded to Snapfish and got good high-res prints back

Having trouble posting the pic so you'll just have to take my word!

You might have plenty of time before you depart for your trip, if you do...go buy a disposable and take some pictures. Once you get them developed you will realize your question is not really a question. :wave2:

I have brought a disposable camera everyyy time. I dunno why, I just find it easier, and I dont really trust myself with a digital crusin' through the Magic Kingdom :teeth: But I'm just weird tlike that :teeth:

I plan on taking my digital and some disposables. The disposables are for the kids. So we will be covered on all ends.

I would take your digital camera to the parks. Maybe you can put it into a fanny pouch. I would get a waterproof disposible camera for the waterparks and pool. :flower1: :fish: :hyper: :sunny: :moped:

My digital camera case has a loop at the back to pass a belt through - I put this onto the strap of my fanny pack, plus wrapped the neck strap a few times around the waist strap as well for extra security (as the belt loop fastened with velcro). This worked really well as it was easy to unzip the case and take the camera out without dropping autograph books, pens, etc etc etc :teeth:

Wow. This is more responses than I expected. I haven't used a fanny pack since about '86 when they were in style. I could never bring myself to purchase one. I rather attempt to be a metro-sexual and get a man-bag, LOL!

I also use a fanny pack. At first I felt foolish but once inside the parks and saw everyone else with them I felt alot better....lol

I used one, DS(12) used his all the time (so he could carry his own autograph book, disposable camera etc.) and DH had one. DH and I only used ours in the park - if shopiing I took a small bag, and actually really missed my fanny pack! DH sometimes took a backpack instead, but only if he had plenty of secure pockets for tickets etc.

You see lots of funnier things than people wearing fanny packs :rotfl: :rotfl2:
