Digital Membership Cards?

Just a reminder, the the rules state that those eligible for discounts will have DVC Y and those who have DVC ND,

The DIS does not allow posts that appear to give advice or anything to work around Disney rules,

Lets stay on topic with discussing the nee membership card and how to ensure people know who to access it.

We can certainly discuss disappointment or frustration with how it is rolled out, lack of options that don’t include Membership Magic.

What LOOPHOLE are you talking about? There was a blue and white card that the white-card deviants on these boards somehow cracked. Now Disney is gonna close the “show them the DVC ND” loophole?

True. I guess the color vs the Y/ND thing aren’t that different. What may make a difference this time around is the renewed focus. Just like anything in life, once you focus on something and change some rules it becomes top of mind. The old blue versus white system had been around for years, so maybe a lot of CMs just lost focus. Now that there is a new thing that needs to be shown to get the discount, it could definitely lead to CMs being more aware.

I don’t really care either way. It’s just that when I stumble upon a way to get around something I usually try to keep that quiet.
 
I personally have not used Google Pay in the past, but I have no issue with the idea. Multiple other online companies like Paypal and Amazon already have my credit card info, so it just seems like not a big deal if Google has it as well.

What irritates me is that our affiliations are requiring being loaded into our digital wallet and then not using it as a digital wallet. If it was scanned using NFC (or even the QR code) it would take away any unwarranted discounts and take away the ability to blame the CM's for giving those unwarranted discounts.

And it would be simple - buy something, then pull out your phone to scan your DVC card and then to scan your CC.

I'm choosing to believe Sandisw that this is indeed going to happen eventually. :worship:
 
Not digital card related but interesting with different CM’s. Last month at DLR, I bought a couple DVC items with blue card. (they had cool DVC holiday tumblers in the VGC gift shop) and they used my Magic Key 20%. Another (when getting new DVC pins at the DL trading post) would only let me use the DVC 10% on the DVC items and my Magic Key 20% on everything else.
 

It’s kind of funny to me that people come on here to report how to get around the system and get discounts, even though they are white card members. I’ve seen comments on other previous threads that give tips on how to get the discount. Did it occur to anyone that DVC probably reads these comments? So by people coming on here and reporting the success they had or how to get discounts for which they aren’t eligible, all they are doing is showing DVC another loop hole that has to be shut. And DVC WILL shut it. Isn’t it better to keep things like that quiet?

Although, with the new system it seems like it’ll be pretty difficult to get around it.

I do the same thing that you would do with a digital card, but mine is white (assuming you have a blue card). Clearly Disney parks locations are not on the same page as DVC. DVC uses member extras as a marketing tool for direct purchases. Disney parks doesn’t enforce this for merchandise discounts. I bought my contract resale two months after the change in 2016 and was totally fine not receiving the benefits I would have if I had bought direct. I am okay if Disney parks decides that they don’t want to give white cards the discount anymore. I bought never intending to have them. However, if Disney parks continue to give the discounts at merchandise locations to DVC ND members I will not decline them.
 
Are you in the MDE app? You have to do through that and not website.
Yes I am in the app. What I don't understand is how to LINK the pass when I have nothing to link from.

Edit: Nevermind. I figured it out. My DVC pass was not in my account previously but it is there now. So frustrating when Disney rolls this stuff out.

Ouch! Is your phone’s software up to date? It did that to me as well until I updated my IOS.

I'm with ya 100%! I've been claiming 12 kids on my taxes for years now. I know I don't have 12 kids, mind you, and know that's what I'm supposed to have to get the tax discount, but as the IRS don't seem to care, who am I turn down a discount I'm not entitled to? Power to us.
 
My affiliations were not showing. I should be DVC-Y. I tried the trick of deleting the card from wallet, deleting the phone number, etc. Nothing worked. I put it away and decided to call DVC in a few days.

But I just looked at my wallet and it now has the affiliations correctly. I did not think it could update the wallet, but it did. All good now.
 
Could someone please tell me what DVC Y means in the Wallet DVC card?

Also, DH is a joint owner but DVC isn’t listed on MY (he has no separate account or Smart Phone) MDE. Of course that means on my Digital wallet for him too.

Anyone know what an ID # means that MDE is requesting when I try to add his affiliations to my Profile so the Wallet can access. (I presume that’s what it’s using for info.). It obviously isn’t our (2) membership numbers.

Thank you for ANY help you can give. I’m old and my head is spinning.
 
We picked up our DVD Sorcerer AP last night. Only I had the temp digital card printed, none for DH.
great CM. She said they are having so many problems with it.
every morning the opening person gets a message about what is working at the time.
they have a list of work arounds. So they can accommodate.
my temp worked fine and she could do DH with that.
so we got our APs.....physical cards. :yay: so we have that discount.
we'll see if we can get it straightened out by our DLR trip in April
 
Just a little food for thought from a long term dedicated but frustrated DVC member on the digital card rollout. Remember for months how they stated as of Jan. 1, 2022 it would be moved to MDE and no physical card would be issued? Was there at this time any mention of having to add it to the wallet, or that grandfathered blue cards would show as "ND" or that other affiliation would be there one day only to magically disappear a day or so later or any other of the hoops like deleting the phone number and re-adding it just to get it to show up in the wallet? This release should never have been allowed to go live until it was tested, re-tested and tested again. Many talk about the phone lines and chat being so busy lately, do you think many of the calls are due to folks trying to get this disaster of a release to work properly before they start their vacation? I am one of those who needs to get it working right just to prevent any issues when we get back home. Yes, there is the online member site we can use to print/download the blue card and they daily extend the expiration date daily but one cast member stated we really need to use and they are pushing getting everyone switched over to the virtual card. I for one am tired of giving Disney/DVC IT a pass ever time something goes wrong or does not work as advertised, they own this and it is their fault for releasing it too soon! They should make a statement saying the blue cards are and will be honored until these issues are fixed. Maybe then folks will not feel the need to call in or chat and further clog up the lines just to resolve this mess...ºoº
 
We are one of the grandfathered ND’s. So, who do we call to “open a ticket”? MS, MDE, IT? MS told me contact others…. My DD got a similar run around at the Epcot lounge. The greater/screeners told her the image of the card from the member site site was not sufficient. Even though the date on the card was the end of Jan, it was “expired”. They sent her upstairs to talk to the guides for the proper short term solution. They told her short term “take a screen shot of the blue card from the Member site”. She replied, that is what I did and downstairs they said that wasn’t not the process. She has also be told several times by CM’s to “open a ticket”. Does Disney IT/customer service really want to address this individually with every single impacted member?

Yes, I have read others say this about the lounge. It is a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. Well I know it is making DVC look like a bunch of incompetents...ºoº
 
Just a guess but I wonder if the new digital system will work with the new MB's that are supposed to be coming out. The current ones may not be able to access some things such as mobile wallets where the new one could?? I think the new bands will have more abilities so fingers crossed that this is one of them.

Having the digital affiliation shown on the smartphone required Disney to develop the interface with two separate systems: Apple and Google Pay. There is absolutely zero chance that this has been done just to replace the DVC blue cards. They must have a long term plan, the CMs currently just look at the smartphone like they looked at the physical cards, my guess in the future paying through Apple Pay or Google wallet will be the only way to get a discount (which will be automatically applied), to save CM time and to avoid abuse.

I think they do for this month as they work on it. I was told by next week or so it should be fixed for all.

But, those there now would want to do the individual contact but if someone is not going for a while then it should be fixed by then.

I am sorry to hear they have a hard time for the digital website temporary card as that is what I was told would be used this month until it’s fixed.

Only those who don’t have a smartphone or Apple Watch would need to buy one though.

Lets hope they find an alternative version.
