Digital Membership Cards?

What a huge pain in the rear. I just went into the MDE app to try adding Magic Mobile to my wallet. No matter what I do, it will not add to my wallet. However, when I go into "Membership and Passes" on MDE it shows "Disney Vacation Club Member". This is what I will be showing CMs. I don't use the wallet on my phone anyway because I don't like linking things to it. I know two people who have had things hacked and info stolen from their "wallet". We'll see how it goes ;-)
The problem with using that is that it doesn't show if you qualify for discounts and it once again means CM's are having to use their discretion for discounts which defeats the purpose of the change.

Good morning, I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but I am able to add my dvc to my wallet however, my card goes to my husband's wallet as well. Turns out he doesn't have dvc as a membership on mydisneyexperience. I can't add it to his profile either. It says if I do it will transfer the membership to his account. We tried creating a new membership but we get "someone ate the page".

Can anyone direct me what to do to add dvc to his membership?
Does he have his own DVC login and MDE account?

We tried to set him up but it requires the one-time activation code from when we purchased which we no longer have. I also saw that he needs his own club id which I can't find. I have the one I used when I set myself up years ago... ugh

Looking at the ‘settings’ for Apple wallet. Even though the Apple Cash part not set up. All bars in settings are turned on including the Apple Cash one at the top.

Setting up the DVC account requires contacting DVC.

The digital card on the DVC site shows what discounts/benefits are associated with your discount.

Only if the CM understands blue vs white. The QR code is to be scanned which applies discounts and takes any CM interpretation out of it.

Well, what will happen if dvc members that do qualify for discounts that have these "errors" coded in wrong are constantly turned down for discounts? Who's to say they will be able to fix this problem. I mean, they seem to not be able to "fix" the whole resale borrowing glitch. So members that are eligible for discounts are just out of luck? Doesn't really seem fair.

I have no doubt that is the intention, but like everything there are not absolutes. Again, not everyone has Apple Wallet. My in laws still use flip phones...seriously. There will need to be alternatives for people who don't use Apple Wallet. If a blue card DVC member goes to pay for a shirt and shows the CM their digital card on the DVC site that shows they get the discount, that CM is supposed to say no? I find that hard to believe. There will be a way for the CM to apply the discount without the QR code. I totally see your point and I get that is the purpose of this, but with things like this there are always alternatives because not everyone fits nicely into the same box.

I mean right now my husband's magic mobile says DVC no Y..we are blue card direct. My smart phone won't support the app so i don't even have it at the moment. His also doesn't say DVIC for disney visa card holder..which we are so i mean it's not so easy to just say everyone needs to just get on board with it. Hopefully they can have a way other than this for magic mobile.

his club ID will be the same, though on the account it may have a .1 or .2. Your husband actually has to be the person on the phone with MS. While I originally set up my account and my husbands account when we joined, my adult daughter didn’t. Mom does it all. Later she needed to do it because she has a different address. I tried to do it for her and MS said, they had to set it up with her for security reasons. So she called and they set it up with her on the phone. It was easy and didn’t take long.

I mean, how hard is it really to train all cast members that if someone has blue..discount? If its not blue..no discount. Let's face it..they all know. It's really just not wanting to have to say..sorry you do not get a discount. But, it shouldn't be such that now possibly because of some possible "glitch" people that should be able to receive the discounts and benefits won't be able to because they dont have the correct affiliations assigned to them or because they don't have access to magic mobile or cannot use it for whatever reason.

True. I still think CMs will be able to give discounts at the register. Same thing with restaurants...is each server going to have something that scans a QR code? There has to be a manual way to give discounts for those that don't have the technology, or even for those that can't figure it out.

That is the big question because all the information coming out of MS (that I have gotten and I just went on to chat and got the same info as the other day) is that the digital scanning to qualify will be needed and that what is on the website will be disappearing once all the glitches are gone.

Having said that, there should be a way to do both with having the digital aspect able to pull up on a magic band, or even if DVC owners who do not want to or own a smart phone, can get it added to a card when they check in for that trip, like they can for your park ticket if you don't have a Magic Band.

I also sent an email to Membership Satisfaction this morning explaining how disappointing it is...and quiet franking not acceptable...that more details have not come out because there is too much misinformation out there right now.

If you read the silly answer in the FAQ's that I posted earlier, it indicates that there won't be an option but to use someone else's smartphone...well, that is not going to work or go over well...

Right now, I was told that next week, the current temporary card will still be accepted since the system is a work in progress and being rolled out. Restaurants and stores already have the machines to scan as they do it for Magic Bands, so I don't think that will be the issue.

Let's hope we get something soon from DVC, especially if those of us with trips coming up soon keep emailing them to give us more info!

What I am hearing is that applying discounts won't be as easy manually as it was before once they believe these things are set to go. What will be interesting is when I go to renew my AP next week is if I get an AP card because that is only needed to get discounts. If they no longer give them out, then that might be another piece to the puzzle in the way that Disney is changing things up for discounts.

And, I am only sharing so people who will be there soon are prepared to what could happen if DVC hasn’t straightened it out or clarified things.

What is an AP card?? Speaking as a Magic Key Holder lol. Surprised that hasn’t gone digital too by now at WDW. But can buy a paper card for $20.

I did this following to “fix” this same issue for me (another user also did the same and said it worked).

First — remove the card from your wallet.

Next — In the MDE app go to your profile / account settings. Remove your cell phone and save settings. Go back into account settings and add the cell phone back and verify it (it took a minute for the verification code to get to me).

Next — Wait a few seconds and go back into MagicMobile. You SHOULD now see the DVC design (and AP if you are an AP). Add the card. It should add to Wallet with the DVC design and any affiliations you have.

Finally — never touch MagicMobile again as I assume it would break the affiliations.

This didn't work for me. Anyone have any other ideas?
-- Never mind.. worked perfectly when tried a second time. Thanks.

Places have been using queries for verification for things for decades at this point. A QR code or a barcode via any means should be capable of handling and protecting the measly 10% discount.
