We are looking for a basic, simple digital camera. This week Target has a kodak Easy Share DX6340 on sale for $212.00. Does anyone have this camera and do you like it? Is this a good price? Or do you recommend another camera that is basic and simple and relatively inexpensive? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Janet

I think that this is a good question for a scrapbooking board.

Staples have a HP photosmart 433 3.1 for 99.90. I happen to like my HP camera which is 2.1 which is easy to use. I never could put film 35mm without destory it so I went digital so get the latest technogy.

I love mind because it's idiot proof.

Buy the Nikon CoolPix 4300. It's a great point and shoot camera. If you buy one before 03/31/04, you get a $50.00 rebate! There is not a camera on the market better than the Nikon CoolPix 4300.

I bought one last week via the Internet for $289.00 (no sales tax and shipping was free). After the rebate my cost will be $239.00. Good luck!

I agree with the Nikon, not sure it is the best, but, it is a wonderful camera.

Sonic, where did you find that for 289?

entry level camera but I love it! They are on clearance so hurry if you want this camera also got a XD memory card but found them at amazon cheaper.

Fuji FinePix A210

it takes great pictures and easy to use.

After I master this camera a Nikon will be my next one. Just was not ready to invest over $200 until I felt comfortable with a digital.

Does anyone know much about the Minolta DiMage G400? I can get a good deal on this, but. . . Or what about the Concord Eye Q? They seem to be a reasonable entry camera. Comments?? Thanks for any words of wisdom!

all I can say about Concord cameras:

Never ever heard of the Concord anything.

RE: the Minolta, it is a nice little camera and very good for the beginner. However, for the price I think you can do better with a Nikon or Fuji.

Here is a nice review. http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003_reviews/dimage_g400.html

I agree with crazelion about the HP camera! That price is a great price and I love mine. I know absolutely nothing about digital but the HP is easy to learn and takes really, really good pictures despite me!!

I bought mine as a combined kit with the photo printer at Christmas time. I think either Office Max or Staples has the two in the kit again....less than $200.00!

We bought a Concord Eye-Q 4mp (model 4360z) at a CompUsa midnight madness sale ($149 after rebates) and have really enjoyed it. It does everything I need it to do and the pics are great, both on screen and in print. I was especially impressed that the pics taken at the smallest size and lowest resolution came out fine. Unless someone told me they were taken at the lowest settings, I don't think I'd really be able to pick that out. It also takes short movies. Haven't had any problems with this camera.

Amazon.com has the Kodak CX6330 mentioned earlier in the thread on sale for $178.99 with free shipping and no tax. That is $30 cheaper than anywhere else I've seen. I recently purchased it, but have not used it enough to offer a good review.

Two notes based on what others are posting:

1) You have to be careful on shopping.com and other comparison sites when shopping for digital cameras because many of the retailers are selling refurbished cameras. You usually have to click on the retailer and dig down into the item description to find out if it is refurbished or not.

2) If you get a Fuji camera you will pay approximately 33% more for xD memory cards than other formats. xD cards are also less compatible with other flash memory products.

Just saw the May, 2004 issue of Consumer Reports and they rate the Kodak EasyShare DX6340 at the top! I still prefer the Nikon CoolPix 4300 but that's just me!:p

You are not alone in that one. I would buy anything before I would buy a Kodak or HP. They were the only ones ever returned when I was selling cameras.

count me in for Kodak naysayer.

Do you know that Kodak's highest end dSLR picture quality is worse than the Canon Rebel Digital at 400 ISO setting?
