Digital cameras at WDW

"I have the sony cyber shot U. It is only 2 pixels but I am only interested in 4X6's. Best part is it is completely waterproof. I can hold it under water and it still keeps kicking. I have had it for a few months, it is by far not the "best" but it is great for what I need. It was about 275."
Yea I love that camera, it is a nitch market but I dropped it on the waterslide at SAB and took about 2 minutes to find it in the sand 5 feet under water-no problem at all. Also is one handed so it worked great when strapped in a roller coaster. Cheap enough to have as a second camera, was great at the beach also, just rinse off the sand.
Here is a good picture and review:

Maybe somebody on this thread can answer a question for me. I know you can get 35mm film developed at wdw but can they also develop digital pictures from your memory cards?

Thanks,

Scott

I know they can transfer the piccies from your memory card to a CDR, but I can't recall regarding digital prints.

Why print at WDW anyway? They tend to cost an arm, and a leg, and then some.

For night and low light pictures, you may want to stay away from Kodak. Nobody, I mean Nobody beats Kodak's color, but they are lacking in the lighting area. I use my fill flash even when I am taking pictures outside of people or else the pics come out reddish.

Best review site anywhere.

BTW, I would go with Kodak or Nikon.

I love it! I'm not good at picture taking other than point and click .This camera makes me look like I know what I'm doing! LOLOL! My question is how many batteries should I expect to go through in 2 weeks? Right now,I'm not using any batteries because I keep my camera on the dock when not in use.

Fatcow - AWSOME pix of those fireworks. Maybe I'll just have to rethink a small tripod :D I'm pretty much a point-and-shoot gal, but will keep experimenting.

airhead - our Kodak CX6440 came with the camera dock/printer (that had a rechargable). We bought an extra travel charger with another recharagable. And then (to be on the safe side) we bought 1 more rechargable. So - I figured I'd be safe with 3. I'll make sure I have them all charged before we go - then back at the resort will recharge them overnight - one in the camera and a spare in the case. Better safe than sorry.

The A80 can take about 100 pictures (combination zoom in/out, flash, no flash, slow shutter, LCD always on) without changing batteries. I only charge the batteries to be on the safe side. So I use a set, carry a set just in case, and a charger. That's enough for whatever trip I'm taking.

The nice thing about Canon, I can use regular AA batteries. In the worst case everything fails, I can just buy a set of AAs.

PS: I still bring 4 sets of 4xAA for my trips though, because I also use the batteries to charge my Sony Clie and torch-light.

tripod: if you're using light tripod, make sure that you weigh down the middle with a bag or something to stabilize the tripod even further. Also if you're using Bulb or slow-shutter setting, use a timer (I set my timer to 2-sec) to eliminate shakes completely.

We have the Olympus Camedia C5050 and also love it. Just a suggestion, buy an extra set of rechargeable batteries. That way while one set is charging you still have another set to use in the camera.

Also, thanks to the night time photo info. I always seem to have blurry photos at night - next stop will be for a small tripod.

How important is zoom? Seems more important than pixels if you dont print often. Is 3X more than enough, or should you seek 5x or more? Also for night shots, (other than a tripod) do you want more pixels, settings, zoom or what?

I'd choose wide-angle over zoom any time of the day. With zoom, you can always move closer, but with wide, in too many cases, I have no more space to move back.

I use my A80 with a wide-angle conversion making it equivalent to 28mm on a 35mm camera.

IMO, optical zoom is very important. Digital zoom I could care less about and I don't even have it enabled on my camera. You ever take something small and try to blow it up on a copier? You know how that comes out grainy and distored with rough edges? That's a digital zoom. With an optical zoom the lens moves so there's no artificial enlargement of what the CCD is seeing.

I've got an Olympus C750-UZ. It's a 4MP with a 10x optical zoom. I really enjoy this camera! My previous two cameras were only 3x optical zoom and I just couldn't get close enough on some things. I've got a mini tripod and I plan on trying to get some shots of Wishes in two nights (wahooo!! :bounce: ).

I have an HP Photosmart 945. With the combined optical and digital zooms, I can pretty much reach out and take pictures of anything that I want to take. Granted, the 945 is not cheap, but you get 5 megapixels, 8x optical and 7x digital zoom, plus some pretty cool effects that you can do on camera. It uses SD cards, but if you catch s sale at Comp USA or something jsut right, you can do pretty well.

I am getting a dSLR, specifically the Nikon D70. It is lightning fast, enabling you to shoot 8 frames a second at its highest speed. Basically, in a ten second family pose, I would have 80 different shots to select. The lens I will buy for it is fairly flexible, at 28-300mm, which lets me shoot wide angle and telephoto with great quality.

It's high price and professional features probably wouldn't interest those who prefer $300 Point and Shoot cameras, but for those who want to take the best and fastest photos possible, you can't go wrong with a SLR.

eclipseSD,

don't forget that if you use 28-300 lens, it will be equivalent to 50-480 lens on a regular 35mm camera

To get an equivalent to 28mm on your camera, you'll need 18mm lens.

Yes, I know about the 1.5x magnification.

It is actually putting me on the fence about whether I should get an 18-125 or 24-120 lens instead; or just screw it all and get a 50mm prime for ultimate quality.

as a 'wide-proponent', I'd suggest getting the 18mm lens instead of the 24mm.
