This is my first time flying with a digital camera (and kids!LOL!) My question is-can it just go through the xray machine at the airport or will it do something to the memory card? Stupid question I know-it just occurred to me that I didn't know the answer!

Think of x-rays as a type of light which will fog old-fashioned film but not effect electronics.

NOt a dumb question at all. I was actually thinking the same thing! thanks for asking it!!! Have a great trip!

We took ours last trip, no problems whatsoever.... well except the scanner seemed to insert my finger into a couple of our pictures.;)

Thank you for asking this question!! I was just coming here to ask since we leave in the morning and I couldn't remember!!!

I'll vouch that x-rays won't harm your digital camera card.
When we went to China to get our daughter last year, we bought a digital camera just for the trip.
The camera (and cards) went through many x-ray machines (and I'm told international airports may use stronger machines) with no problem whatsoever.

Another advantage of those cards is that they are much smaller than multiple rolls of film. More room for souvenirs on the way home!

The memory card in a digital camera is just another form of computer memory. And computers have been going thru the scanners for years without problems.
Our digital camera has been thru the scanners about 12 times in the 18 months since I got it with no problems at all.
