HI All, I know there was a thread about them here at some point but I can't get the search to work.

My oldest DD is going to college in almost 3 weeks. We are going to get her a digital camera...anyone have any recomendations??

I have one for my ebay stuff...but a cheapie.

I know she is looking for a small size.

Thanks for your input!

I have a Canon as well, opted for one big bday present last year.

i got the A60. but i'd go for at least the next step up, A70. I kind of regret not getting the 3 MegaPixel camera. It makes scaling the picture on your computer much better, since it will capture more detail.

Hubby bought me a Gateway 4.0 for my last birthday.

Do NOT buy this camera.

All pictures taken in doors are really dark.

It goes through batteries like water.

Tried to get satisfaction from Gateway.

Store closed since it was bought and I am just told by e-mail basically too bad.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 4300 and really like it. I'm dipping my to into digital, but already can see I "need" a digital SLR. I'm used to using SLRs, so the shutter lag annoys me immensely. The picture quality is excellent, though--no complaints there.

dpreview will give you more info about digital cameras than you'll ever need to know!

I have an Olympus C50 which is a 5 MP camera, great shots and is very small and compact Click Here for more info.....here's a picture of it as well .... Andy

I need a new digital camera. I have a 2.1 megapixel Sony Cybershot. I have really enjoyed it. I use it a lot. I do a lot with my photos on my computer, so I'm all set to get me something will a little power. I can make excuses for getting one because my daughter dropped mine last year. But, I fixed it! I dropped it again. Not purpose, but it fixed it. Now it works, most of the time. So I'm really interested in hearing everyone's ideas. I spent a lot of money on film and developing the last trip that I would like to avoid this time - $144 to be exact. I know I don't want a Kodak. That is what my best friend has because it's really easy to use. Not a lot of brain power required. She can make some mean cinnamon rolls, but not the most computer savy. So, the Kodak is perfect for her. I want a little more.

better reviews of digicam can be viewed atdpreview.com . The reviews are done by professional photographers, not PC experts.

I got a digital camera for college too- I have the Canon PowerShot SD110 (digital ELPH); it has 3.2 megapixel resolution and the camera itself is really small so it's perfect for all-around use. The only gripe I have with it is that the optical zoom is a mere 2x (with digital, 4x, but I don't like using digi zoom since it lowers picture quality). This is absolutely fine for "normal" picture taking but when I'm at Off Kilter concerts (where else would I be? lol) I never can get up close pictures on stage. However if your daughter is just taking pictures of friends, buildings, landscapes...it's a great little camera!

We have 3 Canons: 2 Powershots and one A80 and DS GF just bought the A85 for college.

herc.
