Silly question....
I only have one memory card for my digital camera and can't really afford a 2nd one before our trip. I think it holds about 72 photos. I plan to take tons of photos but afraid the card will fill up - is there anywhere I can go and just download the photos from the card and send them to my email at home? I don't have a laptop, and I am thinking most computers at internet shacks don't have the software to handle this.
How do I go about this? Thanks for any advice!

I read somewhere in a thread here on the Dis that there are photo developing places in WDW that will upload your pictures from your memory card for you and put them on a disc. We'll be bringing along a laptop to do this ourselves.

Anyone???

We will be in Disneyland....do you think that a kinkos or staples does it? I never thought of that...I shall go check out websites. Thanks.

I think for what you'll pay for a transfer fee, you could by at least one more card.

Shop around as the prices have really dropped. You can really get some good deals.

Heck, I'll search for you. What brand and model camera do you have?

Its a lexar 32mb (I use an hp photosmart 320 camera).

That model takes an "SD" (secure digital) type card. I'll check around to see what I can find. I'll post here and PM you.

Looked up the type for that, SD. Here is a page of several choices. Memory is so cheap today, that is the best, and generally the least expensive.

You can get a 512 card, 16 times the capacity of yours, for $29, plus shipping, a 64 for free, after rebate, plus shipping. That is your best bet, by far.

Dan, I was trying to find the manual for that camera to see what the max size (if there is one) card it can take. That's an older model and a 512 might not be supported by the camera.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: It's very expensive to have someone else do it for you...

According to the HP manual, it can take up to a 128 meg card. Those should be pretty cheap by now.

The link that Dan posted shows a 128 card for about $10. For that price, I'd get several to save on shipping.

Thanks so much for your help! I had no idea how cheap they are now! I am going to check ebay as well. I think I paid 70 bucks (Canadian) for my card 2 yrs ago! WOW!

At those prices, I would stick with a site like Ecost, very reputable very fast. I have used them often. Also www.buy.com is a great one. Pick up a few 128's, get that 64 freebie (after rebate).

EB, I was thinking, being an older camera, that 512 was probably too big. Glad you looked it up.

I concur with Dan. Check your camera manual, find out what the largest size is and buy a couple cards - In Disney (and I would assume all around it), every retailer that has the capability knows that there are vacationers coming in to copy their photos to disc or such. I would expect to pay Disney $20 to do it, and at least $10 elsewhere. Based on those costs, you can buy a couple cards to save your photos and still be ahead of the game. (not to mention not having to waste your vacation time driving around to save your photos)

The way to figure it out is to look at how many pictures you took on your last vacation. If you took 10 rolls of 24, you will need at least to be able to save 240 pictures this time. I'd increase it even more because people tend to take more digital pictures just because 'you can'.

Good luck!

Oh, and one last recommendation. According to the camera manual, there are three quality settings. You mentioned 72 pics on your 32 meg card. That appears to be at the medium quality setting. If you get a few more cards (especially the free after rebate card), you might want to switch to the highest quality setting especially if you want to print.

A 128 card will give you about 140 pics at the highest quality setting.

So even if you get one 128 for about $10 (after rebate) and the FREE after rebate 64 when coupled with your 32, you should be up in the 250 picture range. Personally, I would go for two 128s and the free 64.

It looks like you have been well taken care of, but I just wanted to say beware of buying these things on eBay. I did and had a horrible experience. They were either phonies or just defective. I never got them to work in my camera.

Being a digital camera junkie (I just bought my first 1 GB card), I'd say buy two 128s and get the 64 for free. Even on the highest setting, that should be more than enough.

This thread is great!

I'm purchasing my first digital camera this week. I've decided to go with the Kodak CX7300. It seems to be very basic and simple to use. It comes with a free Lexar 64MB SD card. I have no idea how many pictures that will hold.

I plan to buy an extra card when I get the camera, but I don't know which is best. How do I find out which card will hold the most pictures before I purchase the camera?
