just bought this saturday and am trying to get the basics before i leave on 4/21 - so far i think it will be a good investment

please help with these questions - about how long does the battery last - is it necessary to buy another and about how much does it cost

also, it came with the Series 3 camera dock for free :cool1: - although i got it to work and transfer pix to my computer the camera does not sit snugly on the dock - is it supposed to click/snap into place or just kind of lay there

if anyone has this Kodak DX7440 i would love to hear anything good/bad you have to say about this camera - all tips will be greatly appreciated

thanks

I can help you on a few questions.
I am not sure on battery life with that particular camera. I would however recommend a second battery. Get either the KLIC-5001 @ $29.99 retail or KLIC-5000 @ $19.99 retail. The KLIC-5001 has about 60% more battery life 1700mAh vs 1050 mAh. It is always a good idea to have an extra battery. Especially when you can not just go and get a set of AAs or some other off the rack battery in a pinch.

As far as the camera dock, are you using the camera insert with the dock? It is a clear plastic overlay that came in the camera box and fits over the dock to provide a more secure fit with any of the Camera or Printer docks. Most of the ones I have seen with the inserts fit pretty snugly with the insert in place.

Again I don't have any experience with that particular camera, but my DW has a Dx6490 and she loves it. It is very easy to use and takes great pictures. Enjoy you camera and your trip!! :wave2:

thanks so much for the info

i do have the plastic piece in place but still feel it should fit alittle more snug - i'll have DH look at it later

thanks again

I think that's the model I have, but I'll have to check at home to be sure.
Anyway, if it is, I took it for our trip in feb. Had no issues with battery life - usually lasted at least 2 days, but I didn't use the video option at all - just took stills. I would charge it up at night when it got low. I brought along my laptop and downloaded 3 times. I had a 32?M memory card and would avererage about 144 pictures. I got some pretty good shots of fireworks using the fireworks setting, but did not master taking pictures of the nighttime parades or getting the castle and the fireworks.

You're welcome. If you are using the insert then I guess that is as snug you are going to get. My wife rarely uses her dock, we use a card reader most of the time and just use the wall charger for the batteries. That way you always have one charging while you use the other. :wave2:
