Digital Camera in carryon bag?

Just getting stuff organized and with the minimal liquid rule, I've had to switch some things around. So now the digital camera will be going in the carryon bag. Is it still okay to take that in the carryon with the batteries, battery charger, and accessories?

Even with the new "relaxations" on the liquids for carryon, i am putting most of them in my checked baggage to avoid hassle at the security checkpoint.

Digital camera can stay in your carry on bag. No problems with security. If you have a video camera it needs to go through the scanner separately.

Not only are the above posters correct, but a digital camera or other valuable that you don't want to LOSE should NEVER go in your checked luggage.

The airlines have NO liablity for electorics or jewerly that is "lost" by them or the TSA. I figure the thives don't want my dirty undies by my camera, ipod etc... those are worth stealing.

Thanks for the link to the TSA site. I was looking for that yesterday but could not find it and the search funtion on here wasn't working.

Guess I am still not used to the digital camera! Still thinking of the old days and 35 MM cameras that I was told to avoid putting through X-Ray at all costs.

Thanks everyone!

But now all checked luggage goes through an even stronger x-ray. Your 35 mm film would be fine with carry on but destroyed by the new checked luggage scanners.

I flew to Disney in Aug with the tougher carryon regulations and had no problems with digital camera, batteries, chargers for camera and cell phone.

Have a great trip!!!

I'll preface this by saying that DH & youngest DS have the same name, assume their name is on the "watch list" due to issues with being able to get seats preassigned & "special" searches @ sec. line...we except it @ this point, no big deal.

DH always has to turn on all electronic equipment, including digital cameras/camcorders, dvd players, DS, ipod, cell phone...you get the picture. Glad he's always had them charged up...wonder what would happen if they weren't?

don't think this common but, you never know.

If a bag goes missing (yep, had this happen too); airline will not pay for any of the above-mentioned items, neither would my homeowners insurance company.
