digital camera for an 8 yr old?

Hi guys,

Im wondering if any of you guys can reccomend a digital camera for an 8 yr old ?
My ds turns 8 whilst we are in Florida and he has requested a digital camera - he loves photography so I think its a fab idea but dont want to spend a fortune on one that may get dropped ! Also id prefer one that doesnt run on aa batteries as I feel he may get through a fair few !!

Anyone bought a camera fro tehri children that they would be happy to reccomend??

Not so much a suggestion for a camera - more a suggestion that you don't restrict it to one that doesn't need AAs.
I say this because when we went last year we bought the Energizer Digital Lithium batteries and they we well worth the money. We took over 800 photos and lots of video too before we had to change them

We have one of the tough cameras by Olympus, its the shockproof waterproof one, takes cool underwater shots, kids left it on pool for 1/2 day before and it still worked fine, has took a bashing and still works well, they do a newer version now, google it , it has a rechargable little square battery and last for ages.

Bought myself an Olympus tough, and can also recommend it. Have already dropped it and it's fine! Took some great underater / waterpark shots with it, so it's realy great for that novelty factor. Uses it's own battery, not AA.

Hi Thanks for asking ! We have some fantastic friends who are all clubbing together and that combined with some of our cancelletions will see us just fine !!

I'm sure I saw the waterproof camera reduced in asda £67

10mp, rechargeable battery, I have the blue one and it's great, my 8 year old took lots of underwater photos of her friends etc in pool

I am not sure if every asda have these but I have just bought a AGFA 10 mp , face dedection , image stabiliser large screen camera from my asda in plymouth for just 30.00 they are reduced down from 80.00 I belive ,really nice camera easy to use and nice and small hope this helps with your search and I hope your son has a great birthday .

I went to 3 asdas in our area and no bargain cameras oh well im off to look round comet etc tommorrow !!
