I have a Sony Cyber shot digital camera and have been searching the net for a portable image storage device for our WDW vacation. We do not have enough room for a laptop on our trip. I have read about the Nixvue Vista, Image Bank, Tripper, etc.

Has anyone actually used any of these or can you recommend an alternative? I don't want to buy more memory sticks.

Thanks!!

I have an Iomega Digital Photo Library and it works great. It is actually a little portable 20 GB hard drive that reads several types of cards, and then transfers the files via USB port to the computer. My daughter has ours in Europe right now. It runs about $199. although I got mine for under $100. with a sale and rebate. You might be able to find one on eBay. It comes with an A/C adaptor and a carry case and is about the size of a small 35 mm camera. Well worth it!!

first a Hi and Welcome to the Dis!
Second, couldn't resist saying hi from another practitioner ;)

Third....my husband is worried about these being undependable like the microdrives that fit in our camera. Are they very fragile? how long have you been using it? Do you travel with it much?

pardon my double, got excited and hit return too many times <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_5.gif' border=0></a>

I suppose it could fail. It doesn't seem fragile at all and we haven't had any problems with it so far. I will know more tomorrow though because my daughter has been carting it around Europe for three weeks. I have actually heard a lot of stories about memory cards failing, so I suppose anything could happen. I will post again when I see how my daughter did with it.

Well my daughter returned from 3 weeks in Europe today. The photo library worked flawlessly. She used an Sd card and downloaded about 400 pictures (in three different batches). We will be taking the photo library with us on our upcoming trip to Disney. Although I can't vouch for the quality or reliability of all memory storage units, I am very glad we have this one!

because I just bought one on EBay today! Too good of a deal to pass up. We'll be testing ours before disney but will be so glad not to have to haul the laptop around :) Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm glad to hear that you got one. it is literally small enough to haul around disney in a small backpack and weighs very little. It also downloads very quickly. Let me know how you like it! I would post a picture that my daughter took in France but I don't have them uploaded to the web yet.
