Digi-Scrap Challenge - Disney Related or not?

Maybe because it is 4:15 AM and I can't sleep, but I found this amusing. I have never in all my years on the DIS seen someone call BAMB, "Bianca" before.

Keep up the good work w/ these digi-challenges... whether they are DIS only, whatever the member chooses, or whatever the challenge is for that week... You have inspired alot of us to get ourselves in gear and get these pages movin' from piles into works of art for our books!!!
I'm not computer smart for digi-scappin' so I watch from the sidelines and try to figure out the best way to replicate the awesome digi-LOs to paper LOs...

Britt -- I don't know what to say. I am embarrassed and saddened by all of this. For almost six months now, we have had so much fun over here on this board. We started out as a tiny little group of DIS-ers interested in digi-scrapping and we have had new people join us almost each week. It has been so exciting watching new people come on and seeing everyone grow in their skills in the craft. We have always welcomed all skill levels and all styles and personalities and have always been ultra supportive of one another. I know I have answered lots of PMs from people asking for help and advice with digi scrapping software and design... and I have been thrilled to do so because I was excited to see people join our little group here and take interest in the craft. And people have been equally supportive of me.... Particularly YOU! You have been so generous with your time and products over here, and I know a lot of us think of you as our digi-scrapping "mentor." I don't know why people who have never even joined in a single challenge or posted a LO in a digi-scrapping thread are all of a sudden chiming into discussions that don't seem to have a lot to do with them and making remarks that are making us feel like we are unwelcomed here. It is the strangest thing I have ever seen. I know your feelings are hurt. I'm sorry.

I'm can't speak for Britt or Christy, but I think what was bothering them wasn't the mention of the name, it was the phrase "I miss the old days here." I've been on message boards for about 15 years, and I've been running one for almost 10. When someone says that they "miss the old days", that is always going to come across as a major diss to anyone who was not around when the board first started. It's saying they wish new members hadn't invaded their small, tight community. It's kind of one of the worst insults someone can say in an online community. I'm going to think the best and believe that the poster didn't mean that when she said that phrase, but anyone who is online has to understand exactly how that comment is taken by someone who wasn't around since the beginning.

I've been a DISboard member for well over a year, and love reading the Theme Park, Reports, Dining, and Podcast sections daily. But I didn't really find my "home" on the board until I started posting here, especially in the digi threads (and I felt really welcomed since I've only been digi scrapping a few months vs my whole life with paper scrapping.) Again, can't speak for others, but as Christy said, we do feel like a family in the digi threads, and I guess this whole thing the last few days just came out of no where and completely confused us. With the last few days and then the "I miss the old days here" comment, I think that's why Britt was really hurt.

Can I just say something.......
This is a wonderful board. People are very and I mean VERY helpful here. This is one scrapbook board that you can ask very stupid question and get very fantastic info. I have been around for a very long time. I don't post like I use to which saddens me but it is my fault I have fallen off the scrapping radar in general.
I think things have gotten blown out....with the digital challenge, I love it! I was first made aware of it by Maggie. I had absolutely no clue it had been going on for months. She told me she posted some layouts. I looked at them all....beautiful stuff....but to be honest I had no clue it was a "Disney only" challange. Because besides Maggies others had non disney stuff.. So you need to understand those who are new to digital may not have been made aware that it was only a DIsney challange. I think it is perfectly fine to have an only Disney challange. And that is why I said the things I said. This board is made up of scrappers who scrap all things not just Disney. Which is why I was shocked when someone was told to find other boards to particapate in the challanges that this was a Disney board. I think was great to create a new challange so all could particapate.
As for the old days comment. I really dont think Twigs meant anything mean by it. I think that in the older days which for me was almost 8 years ago....this board was very small, simple and we all knew each other quickly. Now we have a huge crowd and are growing in all kinds of fantatic ways! It does make it harder to know everyone but it also gives a whole new direction! It is a good thing......

so can we move on? Plus you guys need to convert me! LOL! I am drooling over these digital pages....not that i want to give up my traditional books. But oh the shutterfly books I give my mom....they could look so much better if I understood this digital stuff! So convert me! Make me move to the digital world! LOL!

This is a great group of people! Lets have fun and teach and share!

I was just excited that I think I can actually come up with a page for this week's challenge. I'm working on it and maybe I can even do 2 this time. It is great to have ideas and the challenges help to make me do things that I haven't thought of or tried. I decided to try using the template and it is great; I went and found a few more and downloaded them.

We have some wonderful talented people here; I'm learning lots so the more work that is shared the more we all benefit.

Britt; ignore the old days comment. I've been here forever, in fact I was one of the group a long time ago that was instrumental in getting a scrapbook board created. This board hasn't changed much except digital scrapping wasn't happening then. I've been away from it for a long time; haven't had time for traditional scrapping and have just started with the digital. Your work has given me the tools I need to make really gorgeous pages. Thank you for sharing with us.

Spinning, I've gotten more done on digital than I ever did when I was collecting traditional scrapbook supplies. I don't know that I can say I actually scrap booked since I got so little done. I'm loving it, right now I'm working on a book for my Mom (I took her on her 1st WDW trip as part of celebrating her 80th birthday). I'm very excited that when I'm done I'll be able to print a book for her, my sister and I. Best of all it will be done!!

Wow! All of this makes me really sad and mad! Why the attack on the DIS digi-scrappers? I haven't been on the DIS boards as much as I would like lately and I am totally upset by this whole conflict. I understand the confusion with the challenge because originally the Disney requirement was not posted in the most recent challenge but the "Bianca" comment and OLD DAYS comment were rude - almost as if you are irriated and feel as if the digi-scrappers have ruined your scrapbooking forum. Honestly, I thought that the use of Bianca was cute because I thought it showed an effort on Britt's part to personalize the post -an honest mistake.

Britt, when you started the challenges, I was thrilled! I was already using your stuff because it was the highest quality and most interesting/creative Disney-esque stuff that I had found. As a matter of fact, quite a few of us were using your products before you joined us. I am so behind on my scrapbooking and the challenges helped me find the inspiration to get my pages done. I appreciate your generosity with the prizes too!! You are a very talented designer - my favorite in fact!


I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE seeing everyone's pages. That is what inspired me to join the DIS boards. I used to spend my Disney Internet surfing time on Intercot. I can't believe the OLD DAYS comment. Is that a slam against the people that have gone digital or a slam against the newer people on the scrapbooking board. I was a traditional scrapbooker for years. I have 22 traditional albums. Since I have two 3 year olds and a 7 year old, traditional scrapbooking is no longer practical for me. The digi-scrappers on this board have been so sweet and supportive of each other and now there is animosity from someone that does not participate in the digital challenges? I don't get it. I thought that I had found a comfortable "home" on the internet. For the first time, I felt unwelcome and attacked.

To end on a lighter note, I am excited to have two challenges now Britt, thanks for the original challenge and Christy, thanks for starting the new one!

This is a great place to be and all of us, new and old, have worked really hard to keep the Creative Community a place of enjoyment and a home that we can share our triumphs and adversities. Yes, we have gone through some growing pains and will probably do it again.
