Digi pics of Spectro??

OK, I leave in just a couple of days for my first trip with a digital camera and I think I have it down pretty well, except for one thing - Spectro. Since it is at night, do most of you experts use the night setting on your camera or the day setting? When I use night, it leaves the shutter open longer and with the parade floats moving, I am sure I will get a trail. Even using day, with the low light, it may leave the shutter open too long too. I am not sure. I have the Sony Cybershot P-32 if that helps any.

We took pics of spectro with our dig camera and they seemed to come out ok with flash. Ours doesn't have day or night settings so can't help you in that area.

It's going to take some toying around with to get the best setting. If you can, make sure the camera is at still as possible. A tripod or I rested it on a trash can and it worked pretty good. YOu don't want exposure setting too long becase the floats are moving, just expermient earlier before the parade with other lights around and see how they turn out. THe most important part is keeping your camera STILL!

The only thing I am not totally happy with are my fireworks pictures. I am getting closer on those though. But for Spectro, I would set the exposure to +2 and have the shutter speeds set to fairly fast. Between those and a few other minor settings, I got great shots of Spectro w/o being too blurry. Night settings usually rely on slow shutter speeds (making it blurry) and flashes. I don't always get close enough for a flash to work anyway and I really do prefer no flash at night. Playing with settings really does help. Good luck
