Difficult times to book?

New "almost" DVC member. Resale contract is in ROFR. I have read alot about some "difficult times" to book. I realized the properties have increase points during high seasons. My question is, does this increase in point price affect the availability of units?

I realize many peeps go during winter break. So, these dates sound like the rooms go earlier. At what other times of the year do the rooms go quickly? Spring break? Holidays (more time off work)?

Any particular rooms go fast? studios vs 1 bedroom vs 2 bedroom vs 3 bedroom?

Individual room views? Savanna vs value at AKW? Value vs preferred at BWV?

Which resorts tend to book the quickest?

Just bought a month ago at SSR 250 points; everyone said it was hard to book at other resorts. Booked 2 weeks - 2bdrm at HH then 2bdrm at VWL in May. Hopefully you're flexible on dates.

At AKV, it's the total of 5-2 bedroom concierge level villas that book quickest!
There will be many savannah views at AKV, so I don't think they will be hard to book when the whole resort is finished. However, at BWV, there are standard view room and Boardwalk view rooms, and they book much faster than "preferred view" rooms.

"The quickest" would probably be VWL during the time between Thanksgiving and New Years. However, it would also be hard to book either BWV or BCV during Food and Wine. If you're flexible, you should be able to get something.
And Day by Day booking is a MUST for NYE, which must be the single hardest day to book, at any of the smaller resorts...exceptions, OKW and SSR, but the exception to that is probably Grand Villas at OKW! Hey, I don't know, but the important thing is, you find a way to make the system work for you, and the way you like to vacation!!!
