We are trabeling 8 nights in November with 3 kids under 7, thinking of splitting stay between YC and AKL......Has anyone swithced hotels before and if so hwo difficult is it? Does Disney take care of the luggage transfers?

I did it this year with my 7 yr old granddaughter and it wasn't hard to me. We stayed a night at the AKL before moving over to the WL. Now, I imagine three small kids and a stay of more than one night would mean a move that takes a little more organization, but if you want to experience two resorts, then just plan ahead! And yes, Disney will move your luggage for you. I moved my own because I didn't want to lose control of it, but I know they do it alot.

I agree that with a little planning it could be an easy task. I know with three young kids it will be more of a challenge though.

Some advice if you do:

I wouldn't do this during a crowded time. So if you are going the week of Thanksgiving, it could be stressfull because all the resorts are heavily booked and checking in the second resort could be frustrating and time consuming.

If you do split, considering taking a cab from one resort to the next. We did this and LOVED it. We had all our luggage and checked into the new resort and then spent the day relaxing at the new resort. The cab didn't cost much at all and I liked having my stuff with me. BUT Disney does transfer your bags and people say it goes smoothly so don't stress about that.

I saw one lady suggest packing separate suitcases for the different resorts. So have one Suitcase for enough closes and stuff for your first stay. And then have another suitcase for the next set of days. She also had of course the one with all the toiletries and stuff, but just a thought to keep the packing up minimal.

Good Luck. IT really is nice switching because it feels like two vacations in one!

We do this all the time! It's quiet easy! We tell the bellhop the night before that we are switching to another resort the next day and need their services in the morning. They come to the room the day we transfer, tag the luggage for the hotel we're staying at next, and we don't touch it until we're in the next hotel. We go to the next hotel and check in, if our room isn't ready yet, they give us a number to call during the day and we periodically call to see if the room is available yet. The only catch with this is that you may not see your luggage until after 3pm that day, so they advise you to take whatever you will need for that day with you (park passes, if you plan on swimming - bathing suits). Just remember, you are not guaranteed the next room until check-in time which is usually around 3pm, so even if you have a car and drive the luggage over there yourself, you will either have to leave it in your car until your room is available, or leave it with bell services anyway.
