i'm confused... i'm new to dvc boards but am thinking that renting points is a great way to stay at a deluxe resort than paying rack rate! therefore, i was looking thru the points calculator for my dates and noticed that there's a HUGE difference in the amount of points needed for various deluxe resorts...

i.e. BWV for 7 nights in late aug/early sept = 93 points... the same 7 nights at yacht club = 267 points! and beach club same dates = 108 points...

any input as to why the differential?

thanks in advance for any replies!

The number of points needed per night is cheaper at the DVC resorts than they are at the other deluxe resorts. Boardwalk and Beach Club are DVC resorts--Yacht Club is not.

You are comparing apples to oranges. BWV and BCV are DVC resorts, be careful not to confuse them with Disney's Boardwalk Inn and Disney's Beach Club Resort/. The Yacht Club is a Disney Resort. All Disney Resorts 'cost' more points than the vacation club resorts.

ahah! i knew there had to be a reason! (LOL @ me!) did i mention i was a newbie?! LOL! thank you for such a quick response! :)

When you use points at the Yacht Club or any other WDW non-DVC resort, you are "trading out". DVC has to rent a DVC room through CRO to pay for your "outside" stay.
