Different type of Formal Night Question

Thank you! I actually bought them tiaras last night at Kohl's. 16 year old thought that was great - "If I'm in, I'm all in!" 14 year old looked worried and said "I don't want to look crazy or weird." I told her it is a cruise full of princesses and if she wouldn't wear it, I would.
There was a group of girls (two tween/teen aged and their mom) who wore tiaras on the Dover-Barcelona and they were complemented so many times

yes both other guests and CM's really 'recognise' efforts made. I always get compliments about my hairdos and/or dresses.

Thank you so much for all the reassurance! We sail on Saturday and my girls are so excited. And thanks for the suggestion about getting their hair done in the salon. We'll be making appointments as soon as we get on board.

Thank you, PrincessShmoo. I didn't know that the salon was only for guests over 18. Since they are 13 and 16, I guess I'm saving some money. But have no fear - we'll manage to spend it somewhere on the Fantasy! Mickey rarely lets us leave with money that doesn't jingle. :earboy2:

Most people don't dress to the nines for DCL formal night. Some wear dresses or suits on formal night, but due to DCL giving up on trying to enforce an MDR dress code, you'll see people in shorts and baseball caps in the MDRs on formal night, as well as people in nice clothes. It's a hodgepodge. Your daughters won't look "weird", because everyone will be dressed at a different level of formailty.

:tink:Our family is going all out. We will be in formal wear, tuxes and gowns. It will be a rare occasion for us to be formal. Since this is our first cruise we want to make it something special. We are all so planning be formal when we dine at Remy's.

We 'dress for dinner' every night. For formal night & Remy/Palo I wear a suit (tho getting a tux) and DW wears a gown. On Semi/other nights, I wear a linen suit in the Caribbean or sport coat in northern latitudes & DW wears a nice dress. Kiddos are a mixed bag. #1Son can be grumpy, but when I can force him into a tie/suit, I do. twin daughters #1 & #2 love to dress up so that's no problem. In the end: Go For It!

I usually wear a floor length dress for formal night, a cocktail length for semi-formal and wear one or the other for Palo or Remy dinners. The floor length dress is usually either velvet or silk, usually very classic or 1920's flapper style with or without beads. So a prom dress will definitely not be out of step even though you'll see many people much more casual.

DW just got a similar dress that she'll wear on our next cruise - IN 48 DAYS
