Hi All,

I'm staying at the Swan in early December.
Will I be able to try out the pool with the sandy bottom at the Disney Hotels next door? (not sure of the name, but its between the Swan and Epcot)

We are not big swimming people, but I would love to experience that pool.

many thanks,
Alex.

It's called Stormalong Bay at Disneys Yacht and Beach Club - and no only guests staying at that hotel can use their pool. Ditto for the pool at the Boardwalk.

As the other poster said, no. You only get to use the pool at the resort you are staying at.

Even guests staying at Disneys Yacht and Beach Club have to show ID and obtain wristbands to use Stormalong Bay.

Visitors are not permitted to use any of the Disney resort pools; guests may only use the pool at their own resort. Stormalong Bay enforces this very strictly; the pool area is fenced, and you would need to show a YC, BC, or BCV resort ID to enter.

Sorry, you can't use other resort's pools. But from what I hear, the Swan & Dolphin has a very cool pool too.:goodvibes

No, you can't. Even guests at Disney-owned resorts other than the BC/YC/BCV are not allowed to use another resort's pool.

Stormalong Bay is very tightly restricted. DVC members are allowed to use any other resort's pool except that one.

When I was a kid, we always stayed at OKW and it used to have a fairly boring pool so we always went to Stormalong. Then they made it so DVC members couldn't use it anymore but that was right around the time that OWK rennovated its pool and made it better, so it didn't matter anymore.

You can see it by visiting Beaches & Cream for ice cream and sitting outside, overlooking the pool. It's very nice. However, some people actually prefer the Swan/Dolphin pool area. Good water features, pleasant poolside service and it's easier to keep track of kids and other members of your party.

This type of post usually gets everyone started on cheating pool-hoppers. It is nice to see that this isn't the case at this time.

I have to say, I've always wanted to try the Grotto pool at the S/D but everytime I'm there, it's too cold to swim. I'm one of the few people in the entire free world that isn't crazy about SAB....did it once and it was okay. Way too many people in there and the kids were just frenetic..running around, pushing and such. Nope, I would be quite happy at the Grotto pool. It looks like a terrific pool.

While I like SAB, I have checked out the Grotto Pool from the sidewalk and think it looks like fun, too.

We just did a split stay at Beach Club Villas and the Dolphin. I have to say, while I love SAB, I loved the Grotto pool even more. The sand is missing from inside the pool, but the Grotto pool area & dining options are so much larger and more luxurious with more/better services. :lovestruc I thought the pool towel card handed out was tacky, but it sure did prevent used wet towels laying around everywhere and towels saving chairs.

Morning everyone,

Thanks for the replys :)
Its good to find these things out before you get there.

Our first visit ever to WDW was when I was 16 ... we stayed at Fort Wilderness with my family and my aunt's family - pop up trailer and Winnebago. The only Disney resorts were the Polynesian Village and the Contemporary. As guests of Fort Wilderness, we were permitted to use both resorts pools. We had a great time at both. It was years later that I finally returned with my DH, and found out no more pool hopping! ;)

We just returned from our third trip to the Dolphin. The Grotto Pool area is fabulous. I promise you, you will enjoy it. It has a lap pool, a quiet pool, a kiddie pool, and the large Grotto pool with waterfall and slide. The Cabana Bar has EXCELLENT food and drinks... the burger and crab cake sliders wer FABULOUS. Have a "Bacardi Tropical Breeze" for me!!! :cool1:
