Different name on EP - does Universal care?

My friend is changing his name.

Does Universal care if someone had an EP under a different name a few years ago? Or does the new name just generate a new EP "account" for the facial recognition?

I'm pretty sure Universal doesn't care if the name on the ticket/AP doesn't match the name on the EP, since I don't think they're ever used at the same time.
