Different Last Names

no.
my sister and her son have different last names and it has never effected any type of travel. not at disney world nor on a cruise.

Just keep in mind that if your son has a second parent that is not going, you may need a notarized letter of consent from that parent. I know this used to be required but am not sure if it still is.

I kept my maiden name after marriage - I've traveled with my kids on DCL several times, both with my husband and without - and never had an issue.

That's between the OP and the border control, though. Not really DCL.

I nearly went there, too, but the question was about different names, and different names won't cause problems on their own.

Same here. When I travelled without my DH and DD was still a minor, I had a travel consent letter from him with me just in case.

Same here, friends have different names and never had a issue. Now that said, I would bring any documents that would prove your his parents and/or ID.........its only a few sheets of paper and if some strange problem comes up, you have what you need.

How do they introduce families with different names?

They say whatever you tell them to say. Doesn't have to be a last name. Just make up something fun. We travel with a group and have them announce us as the "crazy 8".
