We are a family of 6. Even though we could totally all comfortably fit into a one bedroom that is not allowed so we need to either double the points and get two dvc hotel rooms, 2 studios , or spend the extra 100 plus points and splurge on the two bedroom. My question is we are leaning towards the 2 deluxe studios but saw they offer hotel rooms as well. Does anyone know the differences between the two?

I don't think the hotel room has a microwave or small refrigerator.

I don't think the hotel room has a microwave or small refrigerator.

I just stayed in one of the hotel rooms in February (there were only two of us this time, so I figured why not). It does in fact have a fridge. I had requested a microwave in my room and it was there upon check-in. The difference between a studio and a hotel room is that the studio has the wet bar area, so a little more room to store food and such. Also, there are only like 8 hotel rooms available to DVC members, so they can be hard to get.

If it were me, with that many people, I would go for the two bedroom. You won't be tripping over each other and your things, so I think you will be much more comfortable. Plus, you'll have a kitchen. If you do the two bedroom lock-off you'll have a second living room area too.

I agree with the two bedroom (standard or lock-off) option if you can swing the points or $$$. We have stayed in all room types and love them all.

How long are you staying for and what are your plans for food? Having a full kitchen will save you a lot of money on food as you can prepare everything in the room instead of eating at one of the restaurants. It really depends on what type of traveler you are and what your expectations and budget are for your trip.

Let us know more information and I'll help as much as possible. I'm a DVC member with Aulani as one of my home resorts and we've stayed multiple times a year since 2013.

Another difference between the hotel rooms and deluxe studios is the bedding options. The standard (hotel) rooms come with either 2 queen beds or a king bed w/queen sofa sleeper and the deluxe studios come with a queen bed and queen sofa sleeper. Also the hotel rooms are about 30 square feet smaller. I agree with others in that you might enjoy the 2-bedroom villa because of the option of having a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Altho the studios do have microwaves, small fridge, wet bar sink, toaster and coffee/tea maker. Enjoy your trip!

We are staying for one week in June. I am planning on buying snacks/ breakfast/ lunch food to eat in the room but dinners out. I would rather use less points but want to make sure whatever room I chose at least has a fridge/ coffeemaker/ microwave...
