Differences in crowds 2nd and 3rd weeks in August ?

We always go the last week of August. Crowds have always been very manageable. It is hot, very hot and HUMID. I have come to realize not to even bother styling my hair, I walk outside and POOF instant frizz ball..so up in a clip it goes. It down pours daily for around 20 mins but once it rained for quite awhile. This usually clears out many people from the park. We always go back to the hotel and take a swim and relax and then hit the parks later ..usually early evening. Luckily there are many attractions and stores within each park if you need a cool down. However, AK seems the most brutal for some reason.

I think my daughter was more stunned than anything when Jasmine took her hand. It was awesome, no doubt.

Re: the heat/humidity - it is pretty nasty. My wife and I look at it kinda like going into battle, and we prepare. We basically pack nothing but Under Armour Heat Gear, and although she hasn't used a stroller in a long time (she was six last year) we rented one for our daughter to use at AK (a sauna) and Epcot (spread out, little shade, baking hot), along with one of those misting fans.

It is this weather, though, that in part keeps the crowds as light as they are. I'll make that trade any day.

We've gone the second week in August, and it was madness. I've never seen WDW that crowded. It was a UK holiday invasion- I've never heard so many English and Scottish accents in one place! There were lines at MK at 2am. We went the last week in August in 2012, and it was great. We are from Texas, so immune to the heat and humidity. But yes, August is HOT and very HUMID.

That does not sound good :crazy2: To bad we cannot go the last week because school starts.

Wish we could go the last week but it is not possible because of school. Does anyone have any experiences with the 3rd week :confused3 ?

We went during the 3rd week of August last year. The crowds were high at the beginning of the week and then completely dropped off on Thursday. We were easily able to walk onto rides Thursday-Saturday with zero wait. My sister's family came with us and they left Wednesday, so they never had a chance to see the low crowds!

It was incredibly hot and humid. You can tell what time of day our pictures were taken based upon how sweaty we looked! Pictures at rope drop- we were fresh faced. Pictures after 11 AM, we were all a hot sweaty mess! I've never sweat so much in public (other than at the gym) in my life. We saw lots of shows and did as many indoor shows and character meet and greets as possible.

We usually go the end of the second week of Aug. into the middle of the third week. We have never found it to be extremely busy. We have never really had to wait for long for anything. This year we are going from the 16th through the 23rd. According to one crowd calendar the 16th is the end of summer break. I don't think the crowds will be bad at all since free dining starts after we are gone. As for the weather, just drink lots of fluids, take afternoon breaks, and go to the parks early. We also use the frogg togg cooling towels. Also make sure you have plenty of sunscreen. We have been going in Aug. for at least 10 years and have not had any problems regarding crowds and we manage the heat.

Thanks everyone for all the information. I'm not looking forward to the heat but it is the only time we will be able to go .

Mid to late August is a great time to visit. Yes the humidity is brutal, but I have found we actually get used to it fairly quickly. Pop in to shops or ride things with air conditioning to cool off. Definitely early in the day and evenings are best for trying to beat the heat and the crowds. I also agree with taking a midday break to swim, shop, or just rest, especially if you're traveling with young children. As others have said, the later you go in August, the lighter the crowds will be. Just remember, you're on vacation in Disney World, which beats being at work any day:):)

We go every August and have tried every week. There is no difference at all between the 2nd and 3rd weeks. The 4th week things look comparatively like a ghost down. Bam that Monday it's all cleared out.

Thanks this is what I wanted to know :thumbsup2
