Differences between WDW and DL

I love WDW for the resort experience and I love DL for the park experience. If I had to choose just one DL would win hands down every time. I just prefer to kick it old school with Walt's magic touch!

For my birthday in October I thought about what I wanted to do. Fireworks and Halloween came to mind but for rides I wanted to do bobsled, Tower of Terror, and Casey Jr. Two of those are unique to DLR. This will be my 48th anniversary of going to DLR. I have been riding the bobsleds since 1960 and do not know how many times but at least 200 and maybe 500. I lost count long ago when people did not count how many times they rode a ride.

I'm a WDW vet (20+ trips in the last 30 years) and have been to DLR twice, once in February and once in March of this year. I know you can't compare the two experiences, except that you can compare DL park to MK, but I far FAR prefer DLR. There is nothing that I really miss not having when I go to DLR. Now, if Epcot was the way it was in the 80s/early 90s I would miss that, but other than that I don't miss anything. Even the ToT, which is moderately better in WDW because of the random drops, is still one of my favs at DLR. I was stunned that pretty much everything that is at both resorts is better at DLR.
I even like the onsite hotels. I stayed at DLH both times. I'd like to stay at the GCH, but it was too expensive...beautiful though.
My favorite hotel is still the Contemporary, but the Disneyland Hotel is a close second. Can't wait for all the refurbs they are planning on doing.

Both parks offer special experiences. DLR offers a more intimate experience where I can almost feel Walt walking with me down Main Street  DLR is a very relaxed place for me where I go at my own pace. It is very simple to figure it all out. You can stroll between the "two" parks easily. There are fewer choices that have to be made in terms of places to eat, parks to visit, resort hotels, etc.

WDW offers anything and everything you could imagine. The choices are endless. It would take days and days to experience just a small percentage of it. I think "high energy" when I think of WDW. So much to see and do you need to really plan.

I love both parks, although I am partial to Walt's park because I love the smaller, more intimate feel...and you can't beat the Southern California weather.
