Difference in size between Pop and ASMu

I've read repeatedly that All Star Music is a smaller resort than Pop, but when looking at their respective maps, ASMu seems MUCH larger than Pop (i.e. more buildings, more spread out, much longer walk from furthest buildings to main building). Can anyone put it in better perspective for me? I'm staying at ASMu in May, and I purposely did not ask for preferred (because of pool noise experience at Pop). I hope I'm not in for a huge hike to the main building/bus stops. The furthest buildings at Pop didn't seem all that far from the main building.

All Star Music's layout is such that it is more spread out than the other two All Stars. I am not sure how much more spread out it is than Pop but to me it seems to be that way. As far as rooms, Pop has 2880 rooms, Music has 1920 so it would reason it would have to be bigger. Yet ASMU seems to have more landscaping than the other values, so that takes up room and makes it more spread out. I have stayed at both and do think Music seems more spread out. I did get a preferred room last week at Music and I loved it. We were in Calypso (room1425) but not right on the pool. I have stayed preferred at Pop, Sports and Music and was only near a pool at Pop and that was above the baby pool and it wasn't noisy. Last week the pools were pretty crowded until midnight and still had people in them past midnight. So you have late night swimmers at that resort for sure. But in my room in preferred, I coudn't hear a thing. I will never not pay for preferred at a value again, since they only have one bus stop and we like to be close to the food court its worth it to us. If you were way out in say the Country Fair section of Music, that would be a hike. We stayed in the Rock Inn section a couple of years ago and that was bad enough!

I think Music is quieter than Pop, I can't say for sure but I would swear those rooms are more soundproof than Pop's. I love Pop but do have to say our room(s) there have let in more noise from the outside and our neighbors than the All Stars.

Maybe someone can give you the exact dimensions of the overall size of ASMU. I know that Pop is spread out on 177 acres, (saw that on allearsnet) but not sure what the acreage of Music is.

Music's paths run in a straight line. Country Fair feel like a forever walk to the main building. Sports, Movies, and Pop are built more in a circle. Nothing seems as far in the circular layouts.

We find Pop and Sports to be the easiest to get a close room to everything.

I thought about that one later after I posted! And now I realize that the straight line layout of Music doesn't afford some of the shortcuts that Pop and the other two All Stars have.

I would still guess that the furthest walk couldn't be more than ten minutes, maybe 7 or 8. But I wouldn't want to have to do that at the end of a long day or just to refill my soda mug. I loved having preferred last week and think your odds of being right on the pool would be less than you think. And I would rather deal with that the long walks but that's just me! We took a small buzz fan to circulate the air and that was also a great way to drown out noise, although there really wasn't any.

Thanks for the helpful info. That makes sense (ASMu being in a long line, as opposed to Pop being more clustered). We have asked for a King room, and I'm hoping if we get it, it will also put us in a good location building-wise.

Either way, a walk isn't going to bother me. I'm SO glad to be going on this vacation that I'll be on the whole time anyway!
