difference in crowds late Aug to early Sept?

I have booked a week at OKW on Sept 4-11th. I know that Nights of Joy are going to be there that Thu, Fri, Sat so I know MK will be closing early those days. Looking back on previous years MK closes early right away starting early Sept. I have heard crowds are minimal and I definately like that!

I have a chance to pay only $200 more for the week including taxes to stay same place on Aug 21-28th. I was wondering when do florida kids go back to school and what are the crowds usually like then? I already know the parks are open to at least 8:30pm everynight which I like. I have a 3yr old and were planning one session in AM - nap/rest time at hotel and then back to another place at night. It would be hard to do this if parks close at 6-7pm but if the crowds are double the size than I will stick with the original plan.

Anyway curious what anyones thoughts are??

Well I have gone the last 3 years in sept and the most I have ever waited in line for was 5 min so the parks closing early didn't bother us at all cause we got to do everything we wanted multiple times. We will be there on the 12th this year too actually. I planned this trip around the nights of joy as I can't honestly comment on how that will affect the crowds. All I know is that the parks have been practically empty every time I have been there in sept. Also I'm not sure b/c I don't have school aged kids but I believe the Florida summer is shorter this year and that school is starting earlier9having something to do with the spring break and exam schedual??) at least in broward county. I hope I have helped a little. I vote for sept but go with what will work out best for you.
