Difference between VR and wedding ceremony on DCL?

Hello Ladies,

This morning, I finally confirmed with DFTW that my DCL date was still on track with the transition in staff. I asked about the 2010 pricing and I was told it would be another couple of weeks. Actually, she said between 8 to 10 weeks. When I first spoke to Cathy, I had asked for a wedding ceremony. Since then, DF and I have decided we will have our civil ceremony next month. He needs dental surgery and so he needs my dental insurance. His job does not offer it so we are looking at mucho bucks for his dental work.

My question is... is there a difference between the VR and the wedding ceremony on DCL... besides the price?

Would they let me do the VR instead?

Plus, I am starting to worry about the prices going way up for dcl wedding to the point that it will not be feasible anymore for us. It makes me nervous that I can't even really budget too well without knowing the price. I am booked in a category 6 right now but I am willing to go to the lowest of the lowest cabin so I can still get to wear my pretty dress on the "Disney Boat" as my son calls it.

Besides the price, the only other difference as far as I can tell is that for weddings the couple gets a $100 shipboard credit and an 8x10 photo.

Good luck with your planning and I hope you get the new prices soon! That is nervewracking to not know the cost for 2010.:goodvibes

the 8x10 photo is included with the VR package

We had a civil ceremony before our VR but I made it very clear to Cathy (I miss her so!) that this WAS my wedding and I never felt they treated it as anything other than my wedding day.

When the Captain and my DH were chatting before the ceremony, he asked my DH about how long we had been married and when DH explained it, he said it was very common these days.

Rufaro ( our onboard coordinator ) treated it just like our wedding and we even got a bridge tour invitation as a "gift" from the Officers and Captain!!

Any other questions I can help you with, just ask!

Perfect! So, I am not loosing anything as far as the event and the experience goes :lovestruc

Now, would DFTW give me grief if I call and ask for a VR instead of the wedding ceremony considering there is a difference in price? I don't want them thinking I am trying something sneaky. :worried:

What do you girls think?

Would they let me do the VR instead?

Not only will they let you, you're going to have to! The DCL wedding package includes all the paperwork for a marriage license and a small legal ceremony before the cruise. Since you will already be married, they won't do any of that for you and you'll get the cheaper Vow Renewal package. :thumbsup2

And there won't be anything sneaky about it because you'll have your marriage license to prove that you're already married.

so...show me the dress you got at AA!!!

Someone actually took my advice! I think that is twice in one week!! Hahahah

When I saw the title of this thread under the main DFTW topic my immediate reaction was, "About $1,000!" :lmao:

GO FOR IT!!! As Betsy said they will treat you the same and as Carrie said, you don't need the paperwork and stuff cause you'll already be married!

DF and I postponed our DCL CC wedding from May to September and one of the things we feared if we pushed to 2010 was a price increase that would make it unafforadable for us. So I totally understand where you're coming from!

Now...where's your PJ? We want details!

oh! I tried that on too! I just loved the full lace of the one I ended up with!

Sorry! My superstitious self says "no" to a pj. Every time I make plans, they fall apart so I am loosely planning right now. I don't do well with disappointment. But, no matter what happens, I still plan on wearing my pretty dress to the court house if I have to :goodvibes

Thank you all for your input! Now, I just need to keep my fingers crossed for the 2010 pricing to come out.

This was in February last year, so I was about 20lbs heavier than I am now
