Plaaning a 1 night stay. I looked at all the All Star Resorts and they are the same price. Are any of them better than the others.? Refurbished rooms? Better buses? I won't be using the pool and I'll only use the food court for a quick breakfast.

When the buses are shared, the order of pickup/dropoff is Sports > Music > Movies

I have stayed at Music every year since 2009. Don't worry about bus sharing, it only happens during the middle of the day when there are very few riders lined up outside the hotel. It may add 5 minutes. Big deal. Music has 1604 rooms while the other two have 1920 rooms. That to me means more people using the pools, food courts, arcade, gift shop at those other two than at Music. Music is in the middle so it is easier to walk between the resorts to use their pools, food courts, etc. Movies is currently undergoing renovations for their rooms. Music will be done next year. All of them had their food courts and arcades renovated several years ago.

Surprised they are the same price, Movies is usually highest, Music lowest.

My choice in order:
1) Sports
2) Movies
3) ... offsite ...

Factors:
- One night ... with no pool time ... not much difference in rooms except ...
- Movies is under room renovation, depending on what you book and when you go could get a nice new room
- Sports has been kept very fresh and stayed many times in last few years with no issue
- Food courts similar especially at breakfast
- Music laid out completely different and standard rooms are far away at back of resort
- Buses don't share often but sometimes do, otherwise no difference

The biggest difference is theme. For one night I'm not sure it really matters, though Movies is undergoing a refurbishment right now. The new rooms look very nice.

I've stayed at all 3 and the biggest difference is the theme. All 3 resorts are basically the same size and when I stayed at sports, Me and my family were put in the wayyyy back of the resort. However it wasn't a long walk at all. Buuuttttt, All Star Sports isn't my favorite because there are many sports groups there, it's outdated, and the theme is very boring. The other 2 resorts have pretty theming. ik there's construction at ASMo but that's one of my fav resorts(I don't think the construction is bad either). If you happen to stay at ASMo, stay in the Toy Story section because that's where they have remodeled rooms. If you stay in ASMu stay in either the Calypso section or the Broadway section! Those are the prettiest sections ever!

Like others said, it's really theming. I think Sports is the smallest, not Music, but I could be wrong. We've stayed at all 3 and have no complaints about any of them. We have a trip booked this fall with one night at Sports and then the actual trip at Movies. Don't ask!

I booked Movies for the fall because:
1) I like the theming better and thought the kids would like see the "movie" characters more
2) The rooms are being refurbished this year
3) I assume that Sports is often used by big sports groups, and just wanted to avoid that chance.

That's about it

Thanks for all the replies. I decided that a renovated room was high up on my priority list. When I called there was nothing at Movies (at least nothing with the AP discount), so I ended up with a room at Pop. I'm excited!

Yes Movies is getting a renovation to have updated rooms including Queen beds like Pop now has!

Even before the update I still would’ve chosen All-Star Movies because the layout is a little less spread out. The check in there is more in the middle with the buildings branching out like terminals at the airport, but Music is more straight back, so the Country Fare building is further away as a ‘standard room’ compared to a standard room in Mighty Ducks or Love Bug at Movies. Same with Sports for the most part.

Great you’ll love it!!

How big are the All Stars compared to AoA? We stayed 2 nights at Movies a few years ago and had Toy Story, so our first experience with the resorts we were close to transport and that was great. Didn't realize it was something you had to pay extra for as it's a preferred area. We then stayed in AoA in Little Mermaid, after staying AKL for a week...both very long walks. My understanding is that the Country area is the furthest away from the main building. How far are we talking? Is it Little Mermaid far?

At the end of the night I was dragging...just trying avoid additional travel times/walking if I can. And the closer I am to coffee in the morning, the safer it will be for everyone. For the amount of days were going, the price difference between a standard and a preferred room is almost as much as 2 more nights at the standard rate, so we're maximizing our length of stay. So what should I request, if anything?

Also, and this sounds like a stupid question in my head...but does the music resort play a lot of music around the different sections and if so, is it themed to those areas?

I can't answer your first question, but when we visited ASMu I remember hearing music played to each theme. The jazz section was pretty nice because it reminded us of POFQ.

From looking at both resorts' map, Country to Lobby is similar distance to Little Mermaid to Lobby. Have to pass through two buildings.

I respectfully disagree. We've experienced bus sharing in the evenings with PACKED buses, creating a mess at each stop as guests try to squeeze on or off as others are remaining on.

Shared buses is the main reason we prefer Pop.

Not basically. Actually. Different footprints, but ten buildings each, three stories each. Now granted, since the suites renovation, Music has fewer rooms than each of the others.
