What is the difference? What view is standard? I would like to save points last week in July and get a studio. Do you think there will be availability this late? I am still waiting on ROFR. Day 17. Thanks

Standard views overlook the BWV/BWI entrance and the driveway leading up to it. Some of the rooms overlook the valet parking lot, but there is a pond and landscaping between the rooms and the blacktop area. Some of the SV rooms (ask for one on a upper floor across from the bus stop) will have a view of the higher level fireworks from Illuminations. These rooms are not close to the elevaors if that matters to you.

Preferred views may overlook one of the pools, the canal to the Studios, the Boardwalk, the Swan/Dolphin Hotels or flowers/landscaping. The preferred views are divided into two categories, both costing the name number of points. The two categories are Boardwalk view and Pool/Garden view. Boardwalk views are popular and usually get booked in the 11 month window, but there are reports of people getting them at the 7 month window or even later. You never know until you call.

Standard view rooms also usually book up right at the 11 month window. I wouldn't count on getting one for this July. However, people's plans change so again, you never know. If a standard view studio is not available when you call, you may request to be on a waitlist for a standard view room (or a Boardwalk view) - you may get lucky!

Best wishes -

P.S. Good luck on the ROFR. Hope to officially welcome you home very soon!

Standard view look out over the parking lot, the entry way.. and sometimes I've gotten the tennis court views.
We've gotten preferred views, (like Boardwalk view, quiet pool view, garden view) and standards, ranging from the VERY first unit on the left past the elevator, that overlooked the entrance to a "tennis court view" where where had a lovely view of the canal and the TOT. We actually find the Boardwalk views to be too noisy for our liking.
One thing we love about the standard view is seeing the high fireworks from Illuminations from our living room or balcony. We actually prefer being far from the elevator; the one time we decided to put in a request that we be "far from the elevator" was the time we got the unit right near it! Though "parking lot" doesn't sound nice.. it's not bad at all.. and when you're traveling with a single young adult DD she entertains us by gives us a commentary of what's pulling up to the entryway.
Though sometimes it might seem like a long walk and we have a unit way at the end, when coming back from Epcot, or the lobby.. if we're walking back from MGM we find that entering one of the doors closest to our unit and using the stairs is much easier; same as with going to and from the pools.
As far as availability, they do book earlier, since they're less points..but then again... there's always a chance.. you never know 'til you try.. someone may have canceled.
Have a wonderful time!

I just cancelled a standard view one bedroom 7/6- 7/9 today. Actually I changed to a 2 bedroom. While the CM tried to change my ressie somoeone else took it. I was on the phone about 15 minutes with MS but did secure a preferred 2 bedroom. The CM told me that there are more standard 2 bedroom units than boardwalk view 2 bedrooms.

We got a standard view 2BR at 6 and 1/2 mos -- after about a month on the wait list.

That was 5 and 1/2 mos ago. See clock below!!:Pinkbounc

We always book a Standard View and request a 'View of the Bus Stop.' :-) Sounds funny but it's actually a short walk to the bus stop and the parking lot out one side of the building; out the door across the hall it's a short walk to Community Hall and the 'quiet pool.' We think it's a great location and it saves us a ton of points. I'll sacrifice a great view for a couple extra nights any day!

I stayed in a standard view and my view was...the air conditioners. Since it was a first floor room, you couldn't use the patio or open the door because of the noise. That did it for me, I stay in the "quiet" boardwalk rooms now, and it's worth every point I pay to avoid those air conditioning units!

Just got back from BWV standards view 2BR. Twice have had view of the pond that is near the main entrance. Best part is that on the first floor, baby ducks and red billed birds (baby storks) would be outside my door each day along with rabbits and the more mature birds. Fun to feed with the kids. These rooms are ABSOLUTELY as good as water view rooms (IMHO) and alot cheaper. Also, onla short walk to Community Hall.
