When we were at disney 2 years ago we used the Photo Pass, what is this new Memory Maker and how are the two different.

Memory Maker is a PhotoPass package that includes digital downloads of all photos taken. Memory Maker does not include actual prints.

With PhotoPass, you can still have pictures taken by PhotoPass Photographers and then go to one of the Camera Centers and view/purchase prints just like before.

With the Photo Pass Plus I remember we got them digitally because we didn't go any place and have pictures printed we did all that when we got home.

Another difference that I found in my research (we went last in April 2013), was that when you ordered your prints from PP+, you received the images on a CD via mail.

Memory Maker is a digital download.

PhotoPass is the photo taking service, Memory Maker is a product you can buy. You may be thinking of PhotoPass +, which was a product that was replaced by Memory Maker.

You didn't get prints with PP+; you either got downloads or a CD. If you wanted prints, you would've had to use an online service like Shutterfly or go to a place like Target or just print them at home.

You still get the cd or automatic download to your computer once you get home with MM right? Like you did with PP+...? From what I was told MM is just a new name for PP+ ?

Memory Maker does not include a CD nor prints, it's a download only product.

MM is pretty much a new name for PP+. With MemoryMaker, if you have magic bands, photos taken at Photopass photographers are linked to your account through your magic bands, ride photos are automatically linked (no extra stop at the photo display), posed photos at the entrance of select character meals are included, and you get unlimited downloads but no physical CD. Not sure what, if any, are a change from PP+.

Memory Maker has replaced Photopass Plus. It is basically the exact same thing with just a few tweaks which most of we like to call the "pay more money, but get less" tweaks.

1. You don't have to get the special card that you had to pick up from photopass plus- you use your magic band. If you wind up with any physical cards from around the park (we had a photographer who was handing out cards because his MB scan was not working and there is also ETWB etc), you just add them to your account like you used to.

2. They no longer give you the CD. If you want the physical CD you have to pay extra. I thought I would do that, but it turns out even though we had over 800 photos in our account, they were easy to download and make our own CD for back up. Downloads are unlimited- so we downloaded everything once into a folder and then edited everything and downloaded it again. I also downloaded some directly to my phone and ipad, computer at work, etc.

3. Most restaurants don't give you physical photos anymore- they just go into your account.

4. You will get videos from 7DMT and TOT if you ride them put into your account. "Big brother is watching ;):rotfl:". They are supposed to be adding more ride videos.

5. In most instances your ride photos now automatically go onto your magic band and you do not have to stop at the counter. When we were there a couple of months ago, they still had a few they had not converted yet, so you probably want to stop at the counter to be sure unless it is posted not to.

6. Of course...it costs more!

That is all I can come up with off the top of my head that is different.

just curious as to how they know which ride you are on and when?

i mean the time between getting a band scanned at the FP entrance and actually ride time are not instantaneous.

curious minds need to know..LOL

We were surprised to see a video of ourselves on 7dmt during our trip in October. However, the second time we rode, we got a video that did NOT include us on the ride! I guess they're still working it out!

There are devices on the rides that can read your band from a distance

Something else we got in December were moving magic shots, for a lack of better words. I don't know if they were unique to the Holiday season or what.

For instance, at AK, when we got a pic of ourselves on the Everest Overlook spot, the magic was Sven (from Frozen) walking up, licking the "lens", getting his tongue stuck and using his hooves to pull his tongue away from the "glass". If that makes sense. It was really rather cute.

Kinks in Disney IT, say it ain't so! :rotfl2:

We were there in October too. We got three videos one time. One of DH and DD, one of me (if you are a party of 3, the 3rd person gets treated as a single rider and put wherever there is an empty seat) and one of some random people we didn't know! We rode it 4 different days. Our last day we got nothing- no photos, no video.

this is wonderful news!! is there a way to retrieve photos that you think should be on your pass that are not?

Do they still have the photopass system as well at the Memory Maker?

Yep, there's a form you can fill out on the PhotoPass site. It might not be a bad idea to make notes of what time and where you have pictures taken, just in case this happens.
