Hi- I just received a call from a very nice agent from all season's regarding my request for a 4 day cruise in Feb 2005. it will be for dh and our two children. he said the difference between the 4 and 6 is only 40 sq ft but I forgot to ask about the sleeping arrangements. on the website it says the 6 may only have room for three to sleep and the 4 looks like it has a pull down murphy bed. I would need two beds for the kids so do I go with the 4 and is it really worth it $400 more? tia

Many if not all category 6 rooms have room for 4 (pull down bed above couch). We have stayed in a cat. 4 and a cat. 6. The cat. 4 can have a 5th pull down bed by the door to the verandah. We have 3 kids so we needed it--when we had the cat 6, DS stayed with Grandparents next door. We didn't really notice the space difference. I think you'd be fine with both. The upside of the cat. 6 was that we were on deck 6 and it was a quick hop down to the kids' clubs. The upside of the cat. 4, though, was only one deck up to the pools, beverage station, etc.

thanks robin. I'll ask dh and see what he thinks. I would love to save $400.

We traveled Cat 6 twice and loved it. Great Location. Now we have 3 children adhave to get Cat 4 and I was not impressed with it. I would prefer cat 6 even with all 5 of us. There wasn't that much more space to be worth the money.

We had a cat 4 and for some reason i thought it would be a whole lot bigger than a cat 6, but there really isn't much space difference i think, and afterwards I thought to myself i wished i would have gone with a cat 6.

Some people think the location of Cat 4 rooms are better because they are higher up, others feel that the extra costs of higher level rooms are not that good when you factor in that you are just below deck 9 and you might hear a lot of noise from that deck all day and night.

dis4me- Did you know that you can get a Cat 6 + Cat 11 for close to the same price as 4 in a Cat 6 room itself. On my upcoming cruise, my TA told me this and then quoted me a price of only 200.00 more to get the 2nd room. Upside is we get the extra bathroom and privacy- Downside is the rooms are across from each other instead of adjoining. Just a thought...Mark

Thanks Mark I did price it but since my kids are still child rate it didn't work out cheaper. I think next year when my daughters are 9 and 10 I will try that but to do it nowI would have to pay todays rates which are much highe than I booked. Thanks for the suggestion though. I am sure having 2 roms will be great since you could use one room for storage if you wanted.

We've sailed cat 4, 5 and 6. The only reason we did 5 once was because they didn't have any 6's left for 4 ppl. The reason we sailed the 4 once was because of a free upgrade at the port.

That being said, I prefer a cat 6 on deck 6. I like being close to the kids clubs so it's easy for them do do check in/check out privledges. We don't use the pools that much except for sailaway day, so being close to them isn't an issue. Our cat 4 was on deck 8 and, because it was one deck down from the pools, it was considerably more noisy. In fact, many times I did not enjoy being out on my verandah because of the noise of chairs moving and people walking overhead (does everyone wear high heels to the pool or does it just *sound* like it?) Space wise, it's only the width of a twin bed longer (where the murphy bed is) You do get much more storage though, which was nice. Keep in mind that if your murphy bed is down, it will be difficult to get through your verandah door.

Of course, these are my opinions only and YMMV.

That was the one thing i didn't like about that room!!! It was such a pain since i love hanging out at the vernadah and i would have to climb over a sleeping relative to go there!!

dis4me- Mine are still kids priced too. Even though they would get charged as an adult, since they would both be the 2nd person in their room, it still was only a little more expensive then all 4 in 1 Cat #6 room, with the kids charged at the kids rate. If you have a family of 5 then the combo of a Cat 6 + Cat 11 would be cheaper then the Cat 4 room.

Oh Ok thanks Mark I guess then it as just because they were giving me current prices not from when booked. Now I know fo next time. We are a family of 5 but my son is still considered an infant and pays only port fees. We don't even use the murphy bed so I would really prefer the cat 6 for the price difference but it couldn't hurt to have an extra room. Next cruise I will price both options Thanks again
