Difference between Arusha and Savannah room?

I'm pricing out a long weekend during value season at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I'd like a room where I can sit on a balcony and look out at the animals, and since it's value season, I don't mind paying extra for a non standard room.

There are two choices: savannah and arusha savannah.

The regular savannah is cheaper.

Would I see animals at both, or am I more likely to see animals at arusha?

And if you see animals at both, what's the difference between the animals you see?

You would see animals at both, just Arusha became the most requested savannah, so Disney responded by raising the price. The 2 savannahs I am familiar with are Arusha and Uzima. I am no animal expert, so someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember the same basic animals on both savannahs. Personally I was most interested in the giraffes and zebras. There might have been a difference in birds, antelope, cattle, etc. or breed of giraffe and zebra. I wouldn't really think you would notice much of a difference.

If there's no difference in animals, is it maybe further from transportation at one versus the other?

Is there maybe more or less noise at one or the other, or more distance from pool/dining?

I'm really looking for that trip as a place to relax on a balcony and look at the animals. I may not even park hop, to save money and just relax.

We've got a big trip planned for our anniversary, but if something comes up and we have to cancel, this might be a low cost option for us.

It's hard to vacation when you have elderly parents, and I want to have a backup plan in case our dream trip gets derailed.

there is a difference in animals. http://allears.net/acc/faq_akl.htm We were on Sunset Savanna, and enjoyed it. There was a girafe that always hung out in front of our balcony!

There is a difference in the animal selection. However, all 3 savannahs have zebras and giraffes. As a pp mentioned, the only reason Arusha is more expensive is because Disney decided to capitalize on the fact that people were requesting it more than the others.

Sunset Savannah: Male Giraffe, Zebra, Bongo, Impala, Thompsons Gazelles, Ostrich, Ankole Cattle, Waterbuck, African crown cranes, stork and blue cranes.

Arusha Savannah: Pelicans, geese, giraffe, ankole cattle, zebra, Wildebeast, eland, gemsbok

Uzima Savannah: Giraffe, Zebra, Impala, Kudu, Bongo, Blesbok, Thompsons Gazelles


The Arusha views are NOT closer or farther than the regular Savannah views. All 3 savannahs have rooms that are closer to the lobby and transportation and rooms that are far.

I personally would not pay the upcharge for Arusha. I've stayed on Sunset twice and saw plenty of animals and loved the views.

We were upgraded to a sunset savannah room from a standard view and saw tons of animals. It was heaven!
