Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

Booked 10-A (inside stateroom) and got 7-A (Navigators Verandah)!!! I was sort of kind of (but not majorly) feeling bad about cruising alone with the kids, not being able to go out at night, not being able to check out the dessert buffet, etc. But now I have a Verandah to read and enjoy a drink on!!!

I am excited and I want it to be here now!!!

NO WAY...GET OUTTA TOWN! I seriously think that this is the best upgrade I have ever heard about! How awesome that you will be able to enjoy a verandah if your girls are sleeping.:goodvibes If they do go to the kid clubs some in the evening you are always welcome to tag along with dh and I to a club. (Although we have NEVER even been in a club on a cruise as we are always exhausted by 8pm,lol. But I am hopeful that this cruise will be different)

Here's a link.

I started the thread because we were debating between the two for Monday. We wanted the beach resort (got some good reviews) but it was full so we went with the pool resort. DH and I decided after reading the 1 review that we should try and switch and the beach resort was open again so we did. I am having doubts though, it is more expensive with less time. Plus as Virdis said, it is just 1 review. I just want to make sure either excursion is worth the cost. We plan on doing Cabo on our own on Sunday but I wanted to make sure we got some good pool time in on our last port day. Plus, with the earlier departure time and also 2nd day in Cabo I am assuming the ship will be more full on Monday. I am going to look for more reviews of the 2 excursions over the next few weeks. Hoping that at least one of them looks like it will be worth trying or we may just do lunch at the marina that day. :)
Thanks for the link. I will check it out.:thumbsup2

P.S. Go play the lottery...sounds like you got some luck going on there!
Ditto! And I will give you some $ to play for me. But you pick the numbers.;)

Clubs at night...Jennifer and Michelle, I love to dance, and pre-DH I danced all night long. Post DH+DD+DD, we have never hit a club at night during a cruise. We go to the daytime dance lessons and line dancing, but that's it. We are tired, plus we can't leave our little ones alone in a room (too young and may escape or panic), so we have tag teamed some late night shows, but still never dancing. I would love to hit the dance floor sometime!

Yeah, I say the words "dh, I and club" in the same sentence but it has not happened in YEARS.:rotfl: On our last cruise Macy was 2 1/2 and Sean was 9 months old or so. We had early seating for dinner and barely made it through and NEVER saw one show let alone a night club. I am hoping this time thought that they will stay up a little but who knows.

We're doing the morning Swim. Would be interested into looking a sharing a CD. :thumbsup2

So....the next question would be....anyone else doing the dolphin excursion in cabo? want to share a cd? we are doing the cabo dolphin swim monday at 945.

We're also doing the dolphin swim at 9:45 on Monday and would love to share the CD. How many people can share a CD? Can we get a whole bunch of us and get the price down to a couple bucks each???

Michelle.....when you get the DCL page, before coming to the "meets" page. It was one of those posts, today, on the first page. I think it was called "cabo pool break"!!!

Lisa.... LOL. I was wondering why no one asked me that yesterday! I wanted to scream it, but was waiting for an invitaion to do so!!! Booked 10-A (inside stateroom) and got 7-A (Navigators Verandah)!!! Can I come and have a drink on your Verandah, too? :drinking1 I just have a window, so it's not quite the same.

Congrats on the very nice upgrade Jennifer! Cat 7's are my favorite, but since all 4 of us have to cram into one room to take advantage of the kids free deal, booking one wasn't an option for us this time.

If the kids will let us, I just want to sleep in, have a late breakfast and stroll over to the bookstore across from our hotel. I'd like to pick up my vacation reading and carry it onboard. Speaking of which I am an avid reader. If left alone on a lounge chair I can read well over a book a day on the cruise. I think Virdis told me that the Mickey boat does not have a lending library, is that true?

No lending library, unfortunately. On the Magic they do keep a few books in a small secretary desk in Cove Cafe and you can borrow those. It's a very limited selection though. In fact I think they're just books other passengers have left behind. I assume they do the same on the Wonder, but I don't know for sure.

I always bring several books along. Maybe we could set up our own little book exchange mid cruise. Anyone else planning on logging some reading time this cruise?

FWIW, and it may not be much... :rotfl:
We've done the pool break in Cabo. It was so long ago that I don't know how helpful it will be to share details about our experience. But I did want to point out that there were folks on our excursion who came back and posted about how horrible it was, demanded money back from DCL, etc. But our family thought it was a nice relaxing day and we had a great time.

I am preparing myself for crowds though. In the ports because we're cruising at a really busy time, and onboard because it looks like our cruised is maxed out for kids. Not a bad thing per se, I just think it's just good to be prepared.

I always PLAN on reading, but somehow find plenty of other things to do along the way (imagine that on a Disney cruise!) and don't end up making much headway. (But it all works out well, because my DH is SO HAPPY to drag along a suitcase full of books that I don't end up reading! :lmao:)

padalyn, LOL to my escaping kids. We actually tried on our last cruise to both look at some art an an auction that was literally 20 feet from our cabin and we left the kids in the room watching a movie. Those little rascals used their muscles to open that heavy cabin door just about the time we returned (probably 15 minutes, I nearly had a heart attack just trying this). That, and they trash a room like a rock star when left unattended. They try the, "we didn't know where you went, we were scared" tactic, but we explained exactly what our little trial was about before we tried. My girls...gotta keep your eyes on them. Sneaky little devils.

To all you readers, this cruise might be a good excuse/justification to buy yourself a color Nook from Barnes n Noble and then you can share the books amongst your Nooks on the cruise. My mom just got one and is in love with it.:flower3:

I LOVE my nook - got about 100 books on it...best gift I ever received...I reccommend e-readers to everyone who loves books...

OMG...My mother would have beaten me black and blue...unfortunatly today that is called child abuse...you certainly have your hands full...good luck!

What a great upgrade. It's so nice how things work themselves out.

I'm love to read!! I own a kindle which I absolutely love. Soon as I finish a book I can get another one. I do have a few books I can bring what do you like reading?

Which day? 1st or 2nd? Sharing a CD sounds great!

If I remember correctly, there were 3 different CD packages (12 photos for $99, etc.). More files more expensive but less per photo. You HAVE to be in the same group color and session to be able to share a CD. For example, if one is doing the encounter and another is doing the Dolphin Swim, you can't share the CD. Basically, there's a photographer assigned to each dolphin. There's kiosk that will allow to view/buy any photo taken with "your" dolphin during your session. Hope that helps!

The nook you say. MMMMM, Virdis does complain about the number of books I have. I really don't want to lug a bag full of books onto the boat. This might be the perfect time to invest in an ereader. Thanks I'll talk it over with Virdis.

If I don't go for the nook or another ereader, then a book exchange sounds perfect. I read just about everything from mystery, scifi, romance, historical to Oprah's reading list.

since dd is born i always take like 4 or 5 books to vacation, and always come home with 1 chapter or two read:rotfl:this time i hope that she get´s some sleep on the plane(12Hand 40 minutes since madrid),i realy can sleep in planes so maybe this time i could read 1 or 2 books.:thumbsup2.
just finished the f.e.gifts,i think they turn out really cute, hope that everyone like them too.

Helen and anyone else interested in the DoubleTree San Pedro. Go directly to their site to book, they still have the Catalina package for $159. Looks like all they have left is King beds, but there are still rooms available. Also, you do not have to pay immediately. They give you the regular 24 hour before the stay cancellation policy.

Thanks for the tip! I booked the Catalina package just in case I can't figure out someone to pick us up on the ride home. :goodvibes

I got a Kindle for my birthday and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I also take tons of books but hate how heavy they are. I am looking forward to lighter luggage and still being able to bring my books. This is the longest cruise I have been on and more at sea days so I think I will actually get to read more. My DD and DH love to swim and play together so I get a chance to read and relax.

iPad 2 will be on sale March 11! Just in time for the cruise! I usually enjoy the ability to close my eyes if given the chance on vacation, and limit my screen time since I am probably 75 % of my day in front of some sort of screen.:happytv:

Cool....we will talk on board...I am sure we don't have to do anything ahead of time!:goodvibes

Kel, the kayaking sounds fun in PV. We will be trying our hands at the zip lines. Can't wait to hear about everyone's adventures in port.

I will send you a mail.

You will love it! LiserAnn, myself, dh and a few other friends did this in 2008 on the PC cruise and it was soooo much fun!
