Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

Wow... just checking out the website Connie created and realized that Dany and Connie will be neighbors on the cruise.

Hey TRAVELBEE, I see you are my neighbor (Lakewood), are you going to the 55th party at Disneyland next Saturday? I've been looking forward to it all year.

I didn't even know there's a 55th party at Disneyland. What's it all about?

I hadn't even noticed that yet! Hey, Connie, I hope you guys don't get too rowdy next door!

Howdy neighbor! We just switched stateroom a few days ago. We had Cat 6A stateroom but after much thought, decided that not being able to see through the solid white wall when we're sitting beat the purpose of a verandah so we decided to pony up the extra $220... Don't worry, we are usually quiet as a mouse!

I just looked at the website. It looks great!!! I really hope Disney has some sort of Easter activity planned. My DD loves hunting for eggs. Also considering that Mexico is primarily a Catholic country I think we can safely assume that all week long there will be some sort of holiday celebration going on.

What do I need to do to join the FE?? I know my kids would love this.

Miriam

I told DD that we will be gone for Easter and she said we need to tell Easter Bunny to come after we come back. Maybe he'll sneak a few eggs on board, as well.

Connie, the 55th Anniversary of Disneyland's opening is this Saturday, July 17th. Lots of activities and special merchandise planned.

Just say you want to participate, which you just did, you're in:goodvibes

Couple of questions about FE's. When should our cut-off date be? I have seen some boards mention final payment date. Which I think is in December. Any thoughts? Also, when do we deliver our gifts, is it a designated day or do we just pick any day we want while cruising? I was just wondering if we buried with FE gifts the first part of the cruise and then nothing the end.

Kristi - Thoughts and questions..
Cut off date.... I am open to this as it depends on the size of the group. If you have a larger group than 3-4 months ahead gives enough time for planning, crafting, making or ordering gifts. If you break into smaller groups of under 20, then you can probably make it 1 - 2 months out.

Do you have a cut off size of groups?

Not sure I like the designating day for giving, because if something happens or you get your Character breakfast and spa treatments for the same day, you might not be able to deliver on your schedule. Maybe designating beginning, middle or end of the cruise. That give the freedom for someone to pick the day, but not having everything in the beginning of the cruise and nothing at the end.

Thanks for coordinating!

Laura

Kristi, here are my thoughts on the FE:

- I definitely agree we need a cut off date, but I think December will be too early. On our last cruise I organized the FE (so I really appreciate what you got yourself into with this big a group :worship:). We tried to cut off 4 weeks out but there were people who signed up for the cruise late and people who found the DIS late and I felt really bad about leaving them out (we eventually all agreed to let everyone participate, but our group was only about 20 total, much smaller than this one is going to be.)

- Maybe you could use cutoff dates to put us in smaller groups? Like, see how many people we have signed up 4 months out and get us all set into however many groups, then the people who join later can be put into their own FE group until the 4 week cutoff? Does that make sense?

- We did have "set" days for deliveries, but it was clear that the schedule was flexible. We didn't want to leave it to chance and end up with too many delivering on the same day - too heavy for the FE on that day and nothing at all on other days - but we agreed that if for whatever reason that day didn't end up working for you then you would do it whenever you could. No stress -it's vacation and the FE exchange is supposed to be fun. :goodvibes Laura's idea is a good one too; just give folks a window of a few days and let them work it in when they can.

However we end up deciding to do it, it's gonna be fun!

I've caught up reading all 20 something pages of our thread...phew! Hello again everyone.

Connie, just looked at the website and it is AMAZING! Thank you so much for taking the time to put everything together.

Welcome to everyone who has recently joined the cruise!:yay:

Just sent you an email with our picture.
Karen
Karen - added your photo on the roll call.

What do I need to do to join the FE?? I know my kids would love this.

On the Roll Call list, I'm not listed for FE. Please add us. Thanks!
Miriam & Susan, I added you to the list on the website but I'm not sure who is keeping an official list of FE participant. Kristi - are you the official volunteer for the FE?

I agree with Dany for a cut off date four to six weeks before the cruise and splitting the list if it's too long. On last cruise, there were 40 staterooms participating and I ended up bringing a carry-on full of FE gifts even with the group split into two.

Connie- The web site looks great:thumbsup2 I'll see if I can get our picture
e-mailed to you.

As for the FE I started talking to Cory(DH) and it never occurred to me how many cabins we would have participating. As of now we want to participate but we have to fly across the country and pay for each bag we take plus were doing disneyland after the cruise so will be out in cali for over two wks and I don't know how much room will have in the rental car for us and all our luggage. So we may not have room for FE gifts to give out or get. So we may have to take our name off the FE list but I should know before December.

Also, Our local mall(sears,JCP and kohls) has all there formal spring dresses on clearance/sale and I was able to buy Lea and Lani each 10 dresses a piece. I was so excited I even found a few for me( matching colors to the girls dresses):cool1: So then guess what I had to order on line yesterday? Another garmet bag to fit all the dresses I just bought:lmao:

Hope everyone is having a great wk:grouphug:

Laura, I live close to the port and close to Disneyland. If you'd like to send out a box ahead of time, to me, with your FE gifts, I can meet you before boarding to give it to you. The post office has different sizes of flat rate boxes, so as long as your gifts aren't too big, you should be able to send for under $10-$12. Let me know if I can help you out.
Susan

Website update: roll call photos for Laura (M2DD's) and Laura (Lucky1) have been uploaded. I have added a link to the website to my signature, hopefully making it a bit easier to find.

I actually thought that I did something wrong with my system, because I was no longer seeing this on page 1 for a few days.

It has been so HOT and Miserable out here in the desert for the past few days. No Rain in sight and generally we have Rain in the afternoons too cool us down. We had such a cool Spring, that we are probably paying for it now

How about joining us on the 7 night NYE cruise. (Dec 30th) the prices are much more reasonable. :yay:

Yes, it has been quiet over here. Southern California finally got the heat-triple digits today. I popped into Disneyland for a few minutes this morning, and I have the 55th Anniversary Brochures, if anyone would like one. I'll be back on Saturday for the festivities.
