Our trip in October in my main motivation for losing weight. I was just curious if anyone else is doing this? :shamrock:

YEP! I am trying to loose 30 before my Oct trip. I lost alot 3 years ago, got lazy, put it back on & am trying to get down before the trip so at least I look nice in the pictures! :teeth:

Good luck on your weight loss..feel free to PM me if you want to.

I am trying too! Disney is my motivation to lose the 35lbs. of 'baby weight' I have left! My son is now 3 1/2 so you can see how long it's taken me to do this! I'm not very good at dieting. I LOVE :mickeybar food too too much! :rotfl: I am however exercising atleast 2 times a week. Not much, but a good start IMO. Anyone have any good tips???

I am currently doing WW online but it is not helping me too much. Coming to these boards everyday helps me keep my focus and motivation. Good luck to everyone on the journey to WDW.

Hi,
I would just suggest doing what everyone says..excercise, count your points, calories, carbs or whatever you are doing for portion control, drink lots of water, & focus on your goal....easier said then done I know!

I really do think weight loss success is in your mind..when you are truly ready to commit, focus, & lose the weight then you will do it. I had "my head in the game" in 2002, lost 50 lbs on ww's after my youngest was born. Now here I am 30 lbs to lose & my heads just not there so I am having a tough time of it. I keep trying though & somedays I eat healthy other days I mess up, but I keep getting back on the wagon & won't give up so at least I don't gain anymore weight.

Best present my husband ever gave me was a gym membership the birthday after my son was born. I'm so cheap that I refused to let it go to waste and now I'm hooked. That was over 7 years ago and I'm still working out 4-5 times/week (OK, sometimes just 2-3) Anyway, it's really helped me take and keep the weight off. Although I admit, I did just have to put in an extra effort for our Disney trip this month. Just reached my goal weight (including those last pesky 2 pounds) so look out WDW and Creme Brulee, here I come!

Sign me up. I am trying to lose as much as possible. I am 190 and would like to be 140 some day but right now I am looking to lose 1 - 2 pds a week until I go to disney which is in a little more then 16 weeks.

What is everyone doing??? I am just exercising alot...lots of walking to get Disney legs ....as I call them. Cutting out my pepsi addiction and junk food.

Good luck to you all.

I am trying to lose weight before our trip late this fall. I just recently had a baby girl. I had a high-risk pregnancy adn was put on bed rest. I gained about 70 pounds. I was already about 20 pounds overweight before I even got pregnant. So, I started Weight Watchers and going to the gym about a month ago and I've lost 13 pounds. Hope to lose 40-50 pounds more before we leave on Nov 29.
We went to Disneyland when I was 9 weeks pregnant and I was already overweight and my feet and ankles were killing me. It totally ruined my trip. I don't want my weight to ruin this trip for me. Foot and ankle pain is the WORST! :earboy2:
Good luck to everyone trying to get in shape!! :flower:

We leave on Friday. I went on a diet yesterday. LOL My family thinks I am nuts. I tell them if I can lose 3 pounds I will be happy. I figure this is what I will gain while I am there.

When we get back I plan on going on a diet and we are joining the local gym. I want to look good for our adult only DCL in September. Since I just got out of school I figure I can start a routine now and stick with it when I have to go back to work in August.

I am not very much overweight but I would like to get my waste tighter. I have been working this for about 5 years and I feel like I just can't get any definition. I have lots of strength and I can do a ton of crunches but you would never be able to tell it.

I can't find a proper motivation for my wife. She never lost the weight from our kids and she is still battling with it. I have tried everything to get her motivated but nothing works. Any ideas?

It would be kinda cool to just have a DISney weight loss support group thread! :flower:

I agree with mommykds-so much of it is in your mind set, atleast for me. I lost 20 lbs a few years ago doing WW after my 2nd baby. At the time, I was staying home and somewhat depressed about my weight-my mom offered to pay the fee for me if I would lose 15 lbs and stick with it-well, with her paying for it, I was motivated to prove that I could do it, and once I started seeing results I was REALLY motivated and kept going!!
I've since regained about 7lbs. and would like to lose about 10lbs. I just started walking again every morning, but the eating thing has not yet clicked for me. This past fall, I got into doing pilates, and that was great, but then I injured my neck and haven't really gotten back into that either (pilates is sooo awesome for your stomach!!).

How can I get one of those weight loss things as part of my signature? Maybe that would help... :confused3  :cool1:

I am also trying to lose before my trip to WDW in October. We went to WDW in July last year and went on Atkins in Feb/Mar. I managed to lose 50 lbs before my trip. I haven't been good about getting back on the diet since our trip, but have managed to stay within 5 lbs of my original loss. My dh and I went back on Atkins full force about a week ago and we are planning to stick with it and add in exercise. I would like to lose another 20 lbs to get to my pre pregnancy weight. I feel so much better, but would like to look even better in my 2005 Disney photos.

bubba73-try pilates-seriously! You can get a DVD-Stott's Core Challenge is a good one-or go to a class (there were a few men in my pilates class this Fall/Winter).
As for your wife, she probably needs to figure out on her own what will work-any time my husband tries to "help" me when it's not my idea, I end up doing worse. :confused3 (please don't think I'm insulting you, because that is not my intention at all) When I did Weight Watchers, he did it with me and that was great, but it was my idea. We were supportive of each other with it once we both got into it (but again, starting WW was my idea). :confused3

Anyone have any good tips???

A fun thing to do is start with walking trips to prepare yourself for the miles you'll be logging at WDW as you see the theme parks. We started working on our walking plan several months before our trip to WDW. Walking is a great and convenient exercise and you'll be motivated, thinking about your upcoming trip. Another trick I do is to eat a more substantial meal at lunch and have a light meal at dinner time like a salad with protein.

In Jan 04 when I got home from Disney and DD had turned 1 I joined WW. I "rewarded" myself $10Disney Dollars for every pound lost and "earned" $550DD for last Oct's trip. I'd still like to loose another 20-30 but I can't seem to find the motivation this time. I was happy just to keep the weight off for the holidays and then my Mom's been in the hospital for the past 10 weeks but was transfered out of ICU this week so I'm sure when things settle down here I'll be able to get back on track for our Oct trip.

Thanks-I didn't realize there was one! :flower:

I love the idea of rewarding yourself with $10. Disney Dollars for each pound lost...I may do that!!! Anything Disney could easily motivate me!

I'm trying to lose weight before my October disney trip too. I have been walking when the days allow it and eating less. 30-40 pnds would be nice but I'd be happy to be a size 10 again. I'm 5'5" and weigh 185 lbs but look like I'm just a l;ittle heavy. Boy what I wouldn't give to look like I did before my boys were born. I could wear anything but was still 153 lbs. Lots of muscle from working out. I'm joining a gym very soon. found out my insurance will even pay 40% of my membership fees. Yay!!

Add me to the list! WDW Nov - want to lose 19lbs to get back to pre-baby#1 weight. Not doing well. I've been exercising 3-5 times per week since march - no results. Probably because I've also been eating ice cream almost every night. I'm trying to do 1 soda per day, and last night, I grabbed a bottle of water no ice cream. Now that its hot enough to wear shorts, I'm slightly more motivated to lose the weight. I went to the wish board yesterday, and found a website someone posted... www.fitday.com Its pretty nice actually, you can track your weight, goals, food intake. Something like that makes me keep track more too. Good luck!
